  1. If Pearson can do what he did last year it will be good, if he's producing what he is doing this year than it will be overpaid

  2. This is one of Jim Benning’s poor signings.
Jim is getting worse and worse by the minute.
He has to go after this season.
    What is he thinking 🤔

  3. 2.5 would have been better, but he's a key member of the team, so I'm good with it. He also would have gotten a bigger number in the open market in the offseason

  4. As soon as I saw the announcement I had to go check out your reaction 😅 Oh boy another head scratcher

  5. Why is Benning so consistent at signing good RFA deals and bad UFA deals

  6. The management decisions lately seem to be heavily influenced by ownership. They aren't the best hockey moves. Then there's the tweets………..

  7. I’ve got mixed feelings I wanted him to stay and here’s why he does have good chemistry with Bo and honestly the line with Pearson, Horvat and Hoglander was our best line in the first half of the season. Also I mean Bo has had no consistent right wingers up until now with Hoglander so I totally get signing him keep his left winger. It’s a bit much but I think with Hoglander back on that right wing Pearson point production I think will go up Hoglander makes something happen almost every shift. Also I would imagine if their giving him that much they will part ways with Sutter and possibly Edler

  8. We're paying over 6M for both Virtanen & Pearson, and yet, we couldn't resign Toffoli that's making 4.25M per season, with the Canadiens. Fire Benning.

  9. I’m glad Benning made this deal, so people wouldn’t continue to be under the delusion that he’s a competent GM, a belief that might have stemmed from the Demko signing.

  10. At least it's some good news out of all the Covid stuff that is hitting the team hard, not everyone is gonna like this but it is what it is good news always the best now for this team

  11. Ok. Just saw this signing. 3 years; he will be 31 when it ends. Means to me, maybe 1 down year at the end of the contract. With COVID looming so large in Vancouver right now, I don't see too many (read…any) free agents wanting to come here. So we need the body. $3.25M; Benning has paid far worse to lesser players. I don't see the $$ as being overly bad. It's even a .5M reduction over current contract, and how often do you see that happen to a 2nd/3rd line player under 30 years old? He has chemistry with Horvat, puts in a decent night's work every game (with the occasional "human" game off), and gives depth to allow guys like Hoglander and Podkolzin (when he gets here) the luxury of not having to carry more than their weight. I'd guarantee this. If no COVID, we lose Pearson to a team paying him $4M+, or we pay it, along with likely 4 years, not 3.

  12. To be fair, the whole team has struggled this season. I think we need to change a couple bottom six pieces and we need a massive coaching shake up. Our team and players are better than we were this year

  13. When a team completely implodes and embarasses itself in a season it's okay to let some parts just go away if they're not interested in signing a budget contract.

  14. Horrible contract….2.5 at most. Personally, I think the Nucks should have traded his ass….

  15. Might as well sign every pending UFA while JB is at it! It was pretty clear Pearson wasn't going to take a pay cut.

  16. i thought either you keep tanner or you could keep edler for 3 mil or replace edler so you have 4 defenders at least. But now we can afford hughes Schmidt myers joffoli rathbone chatfield in defence. We can save 2 mil buying out loui but thats not enough. I hope Seattle can take tanner.

  17. My man… I like your channel, but I could not disagree with you more. I don’t get the Twitter hate at all. It’s actually a great contract…

    – 3.25 is a low aav for what Pearson brings and 3 years isn’t some super long term. The dude actually took a pay cut which is rare. He WANTS to be here.

    – Pearson is 28 so he’s not an again declining player. He’s in his prime and is a good player, despite having a down year in the first half of a shortened season.

    – friends with Bo who has shown chemistry in a shutdown role. We’ve seen Bo try to shut down all by himself. It’s not pretty. Man needs help.

    – gives young guys like Podkolzin and Hoglander more support to develop because he can take the shut down role

    – although NTCs suck, he doesn’t have one in his last year so he can be moved for a piece once those young guys develop into good players

I honestly don’t get the complaints about this one. Beginning has made some bad signing decisions in the past, but this is not one of them.

  18. Why was signing him an immediate requirement? He’s in his twilight and should be a bottom 6 on any decent team. JB’s priorities are seriously confusing. This is very Beagle like and Benning never seems to learn?
