What would the potential sticking point be from Johnson’s side? It can’t be money. The ability to burn a year of ELC has already passed. He’s passed on signing with the Sabres for the past two years now. We have absolutely no reason to believe that Johnson would sign with the Sabres at this point. He has nothing to gain and he’s two months away from being a UFA and getting to pick where he goes.
Most guys would have signed by now, any “news” that isn’t RJ signed or RJ has made the decision not to sign isn’t news

This kid hasn’t even played a game in the uniform and he’s already “that guy.”
I’m glad they’re not married to getting him to sign because at this point it feels silly. Our potential in Rochester and with prospects doesn’t warrant fighting hard for him.
