NHL’s Arizona mess is failure of ownership NOT FANS

Arizona Coyotes fans are facing the threat of relocation after voters rejected plans for a new arena but despite claims about a lack of true hockey culture in the region, the real problem is mismanagement on the part of the franchise’s owners.

  1. the blues are similar where its just an investment group out to make money .. not really trying to win a cup for the city .. the owners are there to profits ..only a business

  2. This is a price you pay when you keep putting home rinks if team AWAY from the population. Not everyone has a car, does Public Transportation make ut to the arena?

  3. If anyone ever writes a book about the Coyotes (even including their Winnipeg Jets days), it should be titled "Franchise Built Wrong." Because that's what it's been from the moment the NHL razed the Jets perfectly capable WHA lineup before admitting the franchise.

The whole move to Phoenix started out wrong because the Ziegler administration told the people building Footprint "Don't count on getting a NHL team." Then a few years later, that exact thing happens and the setup in downtown Phoenix is wholly inadequate.

And that was the start of the NHL in Arizona.

The only thing the Coyotes have done right in their entire existence is work hard with USA Development to get more people to play the sport. Ironically, even better than most, if not all, southern American franchises that actually became popular.

  4. Eyes on Fiesta Mall at Mesa but this can be Glendale 2.0 going a bit further and Tempe referendum 2.0. Houston would have got it 120% if Fertitta has manifested during this mess. It has been radio silence. The previous talks with Les Alexander fell through since he low balled and NHL didn't like the numbers. It's more the NHL wants Houston than Houston wants the Aeros. No group manifested for Kansas so, it may fall through. Salt Lake surprisingly manifested and is the closest to get them. Unfortunately, their venue requires updates and could be costly in money and time. We heard of Sacramento but this must be a joke. Pipe dream Quebec has everything ready in place and tjis would be really righting a wrong but NHL doesn't want them at all cost. 4 owners will surely vote them out (Boston, Detroit, Columbus, and especially Montreal)
