What’s the right NHL coaching fit for Patrick Roy?

The job Patrick Roy has done with the QMJHL champion Quebec Remparts has ramped up consideration about his future coaching career, which could be in the National Hockey League. If that were to be the next step, what’s the right NHL coaching fit for Roy? TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado weighs in.

  1. the rangers?
    no,only one team the habs.
st louis isnt going to be there forever.

  2. The best fit for Patrick Roy would be a team called Patrick Roy and every single player would be Patrick Roy…

  3. NO FUCKING WAY! I'll never watch another game! Been a fan for 20 years and I'm already 1% away from not ever watching again.

  4. IMO Roy is the greatest goalie of all time, but people tend to forget that he was coach of the year in the NHL. He’s also having a ton of success as a coach in the QMJHL. He’s a winner plain and simple. Anyone who can’t accept that fact is in denial. If you hated Roy as a player it’s because he wasn’t on the team you cheered for. I followed his career right from his rookie season, and he’s the goaltending goat from where I sit.

  5. I think if there was one guy who could break the curse in Toronto, it’d be this guy.
He will want to be a GM/Coach, solving two Toronto problems at once.
He’d also provide a locker room voice that rings in much loftier heights than that of the big contract guys. He’d likely help to drive down their asks in negotiations by reminding and creating the sense that playing for a storied franchise is a privilege, one you don’t want to see end in dramatic fashion, after all, he’s described by former players and teammates as the ultimate teacher; a mentality that extends beyond the X’s and O’s I’d imagine.
The knock on Toronto is that the guys don’t seem to care and they fear the big moment. Roy would snuff and scorched earth all of that out fast.
If I’m Toronto, I’m begging Shanny to do the thing that sometimes feels the most uncomfortable but is the thing most needed, and sign this man up for 5 years as the Coach/GM and be ready to say goodbye to Brodie, Liljegren, and be ready to re-up L. Schenn, go after 6’5” 28 year old Ryan Graves, and know that the softies in the room are about to start whining til they’re shipped too.

  6. Wouldn’t mind him on the Sens

He’s gonna hold players accountable and use them right which DJ has failed to do for most of his tenure

  7. Roy? I’d take Martin Brodeur over him any day. Remember when Roy was chased from the net versus the Red Wings in the Conference Finals? Roy only appeals to the fanboys.
