PREDICTING THE SEATTLE KRAKEN’S EXPANSION DRAFT SELECTIONS | DataCast

With the protection lists from all 30 NHL teams coming out today in anticipation of the 2021 Seattle Kraken Expansion Draft, it’s time to look at who is available and predict who will be selected for the inaugural squad! There are obviously many possible permutations and backroom deals that may go on over the next few days, but in this video I resent to you what i would do as the General Manager of the Kraken.

  1. I think Price is a lock, so imagine they grab Subban as well, they reunite them, and hope for Subban to get a comeback year. Not only that, but it would help them get to the cap floor with that $20M between the 2

Edit: thought the ground floor was 68M, not 48M 😂 whoops

  2. I love this time as a hockey fan. It's just nice to see new team and new roster. Great prediction video! 🙂

  3. Data! Love the vid and insights my guy. When are we gona get a camera to put a face to the legend?! Ive got a Bruins jersey I wanna send your way man. Let me know!

  4. Bergevin doesn’t have a deal in place. He’s hoping his cap space scares them off. Kulak might go to Seattle

  5. Great video data. I was saying Lauzon when you got to them first time through. I think it will be Foote from the Lightening. I also see at least 4 goalies being picked and two being flipped to other teams in need. Good stuff.

  6. Pains me that we can’t do a 32 team franchise with custom rosters instead of the expansion draft. Would love to mess around and do some full season sims

  7. You’re batshit crazy if you think Landeskog will pass up 7-7.5M with the Avs to take maybe 8-8.5M with Seattle and have zero chance at a cup. The Avs exposed him for a reason. He’s going nowhere, just like OV.

  8. I got 1st line max domi, Brandon Saad, Vladimir tarasenko. 2nd Jonathan drouin, Ryan Johansen, Evgeny Svechnikov. 3rd Kyle turris, Brandon lemieux, Jake virtanen, 4th Alex kerfoot Vinnie hinastroza, Zach senyshyn. Defense mark Giordano, dougie Hamilton, shayne gostisbehere, Hayden fleury, cal Foote, will butcher. Goalies kaapo kahkonen, vitek vanecek.

  9. Enjoyed this thouroghly brother. It will be very interesting to see what Seattle does.

Plus you talked about Josh Bailey and Ty Ronning. So this video was already a winner for me

  10. Would love to see more of these "podcast" types of video. Ps. Hopefully, they won't take Price in the draft even though it seems unlikely 🙂

  11. Tarasenko makes sense. I could swear I read somewhere Seattle were one of the teams on his list of potential trades anyway. Yes, he is only one shoulder injury away from early retirement. But when he is healthy, he is worth that contract.
I wonder if Caps give up Oshie for not taking Ovi. He is from Mount Vernon, Washington. So, pretty much a local boy. But he does have a Modified NTC though.
Landeskog could potentially get $9-10M if he hits the open market.
