I’ve wondered the same thing. Was kind of clutch though since my dad was a north stars fan. Cool Christmas present for him

lol.
Part of the NHL’s growing plans to ensure local merch isn’t available in all styles to match their blackout restrictions on America’s least watched TV sport. lol

Target’s from minnesota, I think there’s some corporate initiative to ensure that Targets have hockey merch available, even when it’s kinda weird for it to be there. This state of hockey corporation buys a lot of NHL stuff.
I’ve Canes merch here in ATL, which isn’t nearly as weird as this, but still.

Target at Brier Creek had merch for Northern Arizona University for a while, which is in Flagstaff where I now live. Odd coincidences.

Once saw Pittsburgh panthers hats at Jc penny. Guess they got their panthers mixed up.

My guess is that their distribution center was supposed to ship them something like “hoodie nhl retro green” that should have been whalers.

The NHL sells a lot of “retro” from franchises that have moved. One of those teams is our own Hartford Whalers. Perhaps they figured that since Hartford stuff sold well here, they would try other teams. And the North Star logo looks pretty good – not as much as the Whalers HW logo, but still good. But I never see Quebec Nordiques stuff for sale.
