I read an interview with Jack Hahn this week and I would agree that the improvement on Defence is the most important area of improvement for a team that allowed 300+ goals this past season. A reliable defence makes a team less risk averse and this spurs offence. It is interesting that the 2 Defencemen that he mentioned most were Xhekaj and Guhle, noting their size and speed and that they already win many puck battles against the board. He also mentioned Hutson as a good defence mate for one of the above.
As for Gudas, yes he could improve this team, but given the choice between seeing Gudas in a Habs uniform, or watching Xhekaj pound him senseless next season…I know which scenario I favour.
Too sum up the 4 choices offered here…Not right now. Klinger won't sign for $7 Million, and this team is 3-4 seasons away from serious contention. Why sign a D-Man that could very well be on the downside of his career by then? (some of them might be ready to retire by then)
Frankly guys I don't know why you would want to mention any of those four. I would say that for the time being, defensewise we're okay as is. Plus Mailloux & Hutson are on their way. As Jesse mentioned on a few occasions, the Habs should for now focus on obtaining a star forward.

Severson if any out of all these guys. Goudas is dirty and would take a lot of stupid penalties. I’d stay the course and give the young guys a chance. Not bring in anyone
I’m my opinion we need. Scoring wingers …. We are lacking upfront!
If Barron could stop taking shit penalties late in the third and looking absolutely clueless when getting into the box, that would be wonderful.

If they want to be competitive, which Im not sure they should. I think a top-8-12 pick should be the goal for next season. But, the quick fix is Damon Severson 3yX5m. To give Barron & Mailloux adequate time and isolation to grow. Regardless, Matheson/Severson isn't getting you into the playoffs as a top pairing.
Get Subban out of retirement. He'd be an upgrade over Wideman.
I’m not worried about the RD position we need some scoring wingers either temporary ones like maybe making a trade or two for some scores on the wing until Slafkovsky, Joshua Roy, Mesar, Emil Hienaman or others we draft fully develop because soon in the next year or two Montreal will have lots of exciting wingers coming up and fully ready for the show
I think a trade between Washington and Montreal is brewing . Michkov to play with ovechkin would be a dream and would help ovechkin break the goal scoring record. They have the 8th overall and guys like Wilson and kuznetsov to bring us some experienced guy.
Mh..not sure why ppl love so much more mailloux than baron. They have the same potential.
Defense is not a problem, we need an elite forward, right now we have none and too small ! Suzuki and Caufield are not elite.

Id rather see. Mailloux get some games. Savard barron. Kovacevic. Feeling like habs will probably get rienbacher one way or another. Who could. Be ready based on what i seen at the worlds.
Why not wait and let Logan and barron take the job , any of the other prospects play on their off side?
Habs are pretty set on Defense, especially with Hutson and Mailloux coming up. The Habs need to sign someone who can put the puck in the net. I think Montembeault and Allen can take us pretty far, if our D plays well.
