Nikita Scherbak has had a weird path in the NHL. After becoming one of the Habs top prospects at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, he was up and down in the AHL and the NHL before getting waived by the Montreal Canadiens. After his stint with the LA Kings, he made some comments on both the Habs and the Kings that got the public quite stirred up. However, a year removed from those comments and a somewhat lacklustre KHL season, Scherbak admits he was in the wrong.

  1. People make mistakes in life and I believe in second chances. Perhaps being a father and such has helped him mature as a person. Good for him and I’m willing to see him in a more positive light.

  2. Honestly as a Habs fan if we had room in Laval i'd be willing to give him another chance to prove himself, he always seemed like a good kid who got lost at one point and couldnt handle the pressure, its all part of maturing into an adult lord knows the things i said in my early 20s are far from who I am now so i'm not mad at him, its about growth in the end and if he's in the right space its good for him.

Being a young up and coming NHL player in MTL can be lead to self destruction if not for the right support system there's a whole lot of temptations and he's certainly not the first and won't be the last who gets caught up, best of luck to him though!

  3. He was a good player for us in Everett (WHL) but perhaps a little 'young' so some of his challenges are not from talent but maturity

  4. the HABS are legendary 🙂 what a team even with the taxes being unreal they still a playoff team ! WOW unreal

  5. in MTL we dont hate scherbak, people here are still crying about carey price 10M contract even if hes the best in the world lol

  6. Probably hard to crack the NHL when one doesn't do it within 5 years of graduating from the juniors.

  7. I don’t see the harm in giving him a league minimum contract. If he really wants a shot in the nhl he’ll take it, and who knows maybe we get a solid top 9 guy out of it
