If you don't play in the playoffs you are no use to the team …
Ek came into the league trying to emulate Koivu but has blossomed into a sold offensive player. He is a complete pain the ass for the opposition and his injury was a big factor in the Wild being eliminated in the first round. With Ek out, 97 not playing up to snuff and Boldy not producing in the playoffs, the death-nail was cast. In the forwards corps, I would have EK as the second most important player next to 97, with Boldy a close 3. For whatever reason, Ek, like Kaprisov takes more cheap shots with no calls than almost any other player in the league.
Regular season grade A- as he gives you effort every night, more than I can say for some of the forwards. There are 31 other teams that would love to have him in their colors.
