Kyle Dubas releases statement following Maple Leafs departure
Kyle Dubas has released a statement following his departure from the Toronto Maple Leafs. NHL Now breaks down the situation surrounding Dubas and the Maple Leafs.

As a Wings fan, lord knows we’ve been through our share of crap 💩 But I don’t think it affected what happened on the ice very much. Leafs fans DO seem much more unaccepting of the failure of the team, but are ironically faced with it in playoffs quite a bit it seems.

Ron Maclean should've said this on HNIC. "Dubas knew that Tim Horton & Punch Imlach's heads were cryogenically frozen after their deaths. That's the reason the Leafs parted ways with him."
Leafs upper management (Shanahan + the Board) should have had plans in place before the season ended.. Plan A: rehire Kyle, or Plan B seccure a replacement. They did neither.
Along with Dubas' new top draftees in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026, Dubas was bringing Scottsdale hometown boy Auston Matthrews with him to Tempe in 2024, then Sid the kid in 2025, then Connor McDavid in 2026.
However, the new Tempe Arena deal, that was to open in late 2025, fell apart on May 16.
On May 18, Dubas submitted a counter offer to the Leafs once he knew the Tempe arena wasn't happening.
The Coyotes multi billionaire owner owns casinos / crap tables. It's no coincidence that Dubas oddly ended his statement with "We will ROLL from here."

Why would anybody want to be GM of this team. You don’t really have any power and you’re going to get nailed with all the blame if things go wrong. What a fucked up organization. No wonder they never go anywhere in the playoffs and piss off their fans so much.

Dubas's counter offer to Shanahan would have made him the highest paid GM in the league. Does anyone in their right mind think Dubas deserves to be the richest GM in the league? He gave Shanahan no choice with the end of season presser saying he's not sure if he wants to be back and then asking for more money days later.
to me the media and some fans are panicking more than the actual team and organization lol so….take that for what it is media being the media as usual lol

"I'm not going to get into specifics" does NOT mean that what Shanahan said is true.

Wow, an official statement , lol. Leaf's went outside the box in hiring "Glasses and Haircut" from the Soo, and they screwed up, move on.
