  1. Montreal should respect the opposing team by fielding a competitive roster. Just a thought

  2. As a Habs fan, I didn't care at all. The guy got to be the goalie in an NHL game, good for him. He'll remember that forever. I think that only Wideman got triggered by that. The game was lost anyway. If anything, the fan got disrespected by such a poor performance.

  3. Wideman? The same Wideman that cross checked an official in the back and got a 20 game suspension? He sounds like the authority on respect, we should hear him out

  4. If you don't want to be disrespected, don't suck. Same thing I say about people calling the michigan disrespectful. if you don't want to get disrespected by it, don't let it happen.

  5. I got a laugh this season when Jon Cooper was complaining the Oilers were still taking shots with 8 seconds left. What do you want? Paying fans to not get what they payed for cuz you feel like it’s over?

  6. Did Chris Wideman whine when the Oilers did it earlier in the year? Or when anyone else does it? Such a dumb thing to complain about

  7. Wideman's comments are more of a "in the heat of the moment" type of thing. I'm sure he was just pissed at losing that game 7-1 just like any professional would be. He's actually one more of the more likeable guys in that locker room.

  8. I’d like to see a 14-8 or 12-2 game instead of it being 8-4 after two and end 8-6 or 7-0 ending 7-4 just because the leader is securing the win with a boring third period. Rock hard til the end. If the loser can’t handle the spanking it’s on them to either fight well with their fists feeling the humiliation and strike back with a great effort the next time the teams meet. 6-0 after one period ending 6-4 is very anticlimactic for us fans who matter the most. Even if my team is losing I don’t care if it’s 15-5. Good things come out of thorough spankings. Especially if the team essentially is pretty good. Off nights deluxe can get teams to see problems needing fixing clearly.

  9. Just an FYI, I think you mean "wins" since their tie games and shootouts count as "wins" now.

  10. When you inevitably make a video about Boston's season and talk about other greatest seasons of all time, please don't forget Boston's 38-5-1 season in 1929-30. Granted, there were no passing restrictions at the start of that season until the offside rule was invented, but in today's NHL, a team would need 71 wins to eclipse that team's win percentage.

  11. The collective meltdown Montreal had last night was hilarious. Apart from Wideman crying about EBUG, you got some regional Habs Sportsnet reporter Eric Angels mock tweeting about the Toronto arena "trying too hard" to get the crowd to make noise. Then some Habs YouTube podcaster was crying about Keefe icing his top guys on the PP. And don't even get me started on HF Boards. 😂😂😂

Montreal fans seem bitter af. It's arite Leafs will get what they've deserved for over 50 years. A parade down Yonge street all the way from Lakeshore to midtown. 😂

  12. How about Horvat throwing shade last night? I feel like the Canuck fans might feel attacked but considering the lack of playoffs in his time there, I think that was directed at VAN management.

  13. I went (11-3-2) Islanders won!!! Happy Easter everyone!!! Have a good day!!!
    Anyways…
    Predictions: Bruins/ Avalanche

  14. I really hate that mentality. “Why are you trying so hard when you’re up 8-1?” Because we’re winning and we can. I’m playing until the final buzzer.

Same thing with the NBA, when players are down 6 points with 40 seconds left. Like, GO! YOU HAVE TIME. FIGHT. PLAY.

  15. They only put him in for like one minute. Had they put him in for the whole third period maybe that would be disrespectful ? But nobody would do that. But it’s not a big deal, Wideman was just frustrated after losing.

  16. I really want the Kings to make the playoffs. That's because as a Columbus fan the number 1 pick that Columbus got from the Kings is conditional on them making the playoffs. Otherwise that number 1 turns into a 2nd this year and another 2nd next year.

  17. The Wings didn't take their foot off the gas on December 2nd, 1995, and because of it, it bit them in the ass. But, in the grand scheme of things, it made them a better team. NEVER take your foot off the gas!!

  18. I think Keefe yelling out of hand at the refs on a game that didnt have any worth to it was a bad call and the refs will remember during the playoffs.

  19. I personally think McDavid is the best all around player on the ice. I think in a 7-1 score game give the EBUG the play time might be the only chance they ever have to play in the NHL.

  20. Sounds like Wideman is just a sore loser. I didn't see that game, but it sounds like he had a really bad game, and he's a whiner

  21. Hello Puckheads! Weekly update will be after these two games …
Okay. BOS COL are your tonight’s winners

  22. I’m almost thinking they felt obligated not to shoot or score on the young goalie to damper the story since the game was lost by then, and that’s probably why he got so upset, but I don’t know.. also… he was the backup goalie, regardless of who he was. An “emergency call up” is not an “emergency goalie” or ebug, I don’t understand why people are calling him that. Those are the reserved person at the arena to fill in for either team when both goalie goes down. He’s not on a teams bench. Am I the wrong one?

  23. Granted, I know it's not the same scenario, but it would've been very interesting to see the crowd's reaction if Joseph had stepped in for Samsonov, a week earlier. 😊 😊 😊

  24. As a lifetime Leafs fan I REALLY wanted them to put Jett in for the whole 3rd period (when it was only 4-1) to keep Sammy from possible further injury. You want disrespect? We think so little of your team you iced tonight that 4-1 is a big enough lead for us to chance the U of T goalie for a THIRD of the game. I'd of LOVED it, even if the Leafs lost.

  25. i think it's worth mentioning that the kings have played a TOUGH schedule over the last week. this week, they get vancouver and anaheim. 2 games they should win, and much more winnable matchups than edmonton, vegas, and colorado

  26. As a Habs fan, I didn't mind Toronto putting their ebug in. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

  27. The Habs should have played well enough to earn that respect that Wideman desires. No team deserves respect. They gotta earn it

  28. In terms of old greats as EBUGs, there's a lot of speculation that Curtis Joseph has been a low-key EBUG in Scotiabank lately, since he's been seen around a lot.

  29. 2 things against Crosby. He ran into injury problems during his prime, that held him back a lot. Also he was a very different player from McDavid and I'm not so sure he could have ever produced 150. 10-11 / 11-12 was peak Crosby… 11-12 he was on pace for 138 points if he would have played a whole season, and I'm sure he could have pushed 140 points. But he also was only on pace for 30 goals that season.

And I don't really think the game has changed that much between then and now. There's a lot more offensive talent in the league now for sure, but goaltending equipment hasn't changed that much… and the rules have changed a bit I guess? Headshots were focused on, but the way McDavid plays, I doubt he would have taken headshots the same way Crosby did. Crosby mucks it up in the corners and plays a lot behind the net, meanwhile McDavid is intercepting passes, blowing by defenders, and dangling in a phone booth. Just very different ways about going about their business.

So I think if the headshot rules were in place before Crosby got smacked around, then ya, maybe he could have posted 2-4 130-140 point seasons, but I think if he was capable of 150, he would have been on pace for it in his prime, and he never was. McDavid was pushing a 157-160 point pace for much of this season, and has kinda let off the gas pedal a lot in recent games when Oilers have started getting lots of production from their 3rd and 4th liners. We talk a lot about "how much the game has changed"… but I think you can look at McDavid as the instigator for much of that change. Lemieux for example was much more dominant on the PP than Gretzky ever was. The Oilers are innovating a lot of changes to the way teams deploy their PPs, and it's changing the league. And a lot of that falls directly on the shoulders of McDavid and the way the guy can handle 2-3 minute shifts and still burn fresh defenders late in his shift.

  30. Had an awesome moment with the ebug, so of course someone complains. This is why we can’t have nice things.

  31. I have always disliked the "don't run up the score" unwritten rule no matter the sport, especially in the context of professional sports. If you don't like them running up the score then stop them. Use that chip on your shoulder to light a fire under you to beat them next time. Hiding behind "respect the opponent/game" while you paint the guys giving their heart and soul for a full 60 minutes as the bad guys will never sit right with me.

  32. To me it's no different than in MLB a manager will bring a non-pitcher into the game because he doesn't want to blow-out his bullpen.

  33. Never ever take your foot off the gas. If the opponent isn't playing good enough, you crush them 14-1. No mercy asked, no mercy given. I view taking the foot off the gas as extremely unprofessional.

  34. I think that there's a difference between playing with tactical defence when you hold a lead as opposed taking your foot off the grass
