Fans of all teams welcome, many of my longterm subscribers are fans of the Tampa Bay Lighting, Toronto Maples Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes and more! I fully cover the NHL playoffs as well regardless of if my team makes the postseason, so if you are a Colorado Avalanche fan, a Winnipeg Jets fan or even an Edmonton Oilers or Vegas Knights fan this channel will be for you. Many people ask me what teams do I hate and my answer is NONE! Some people expect me to hate the NY Rangers or Boston Bruins since I am a Florida Panthers fan, but the reality is even since the NJ Devils and NY Islanders have beaten us in the playoffs, no ill will from me. I will admit however that I am not a huge fan of seeing teams like the Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings become good and possibly better than my Panthers. Nor do I enjoy the older teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals continuing to be as good as or better than my team, mainly because those teams have been so consistent over the years. Of course, I do enjoy seeing players who we traded do well in other cities like the Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks, but I am used to it.
In terms of my Miami Dolphins, I will admit my feelings about the Buffalo Bills, NY Jets and especially the New Englad Patriots are not exactly loving. In addition, seeing teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and NY Giants make it as far or further than the Dolphins is upsetting. I will admit to NOT liking the Kansas City Chiefs, and having a soft spot for the Green Bay Packers. Just like the NHL, I cover the NFL playoffs as well so even if you are a Cincinnati Bengals fan, or even a San Francisco 49’s or Philadelphia Eagles fan, again this channel will be for you. Teams I am hoping will make the playoffs next season include the Detroit Lions, NY Jets and maybe even the Denver Broncos, just for the fun of it all!
If you have read this far and figured out that I am trying to write a description that gets in as many keywords as possible , you are correct. The algorithm is not my friend as you might imagine after 6+ years of making videos, so I am willing to try every trick in the book!

unsub to the hockey guy — that video pissed me off. yes, we are moving but to downtown lauderdale not freaking canada.
I personally dont ever see the arena averaging around above 95% an entire season even if they do win the cup this year, well maybe then but just for the sole reason is because its south florida. I think nearly 70% of the panthers fanbase consists of northerners that moved down here like my parents, and who already loved hockey which is why others get hooked on it, or just families that loved hockey and shared it with the rest of their family. The average sports fan thinks hockey is a dumb sport and its even worse in south Florida. The arena is in Sunrise which is very nice but it is a somewhat long drive from areas like West Palm Beach where a lot of panther fans are because I don't think there are many people close to the arena south of it care about hockey. On top of expensive tickets now and parking, but you can just park at Sawgrass, it makes me not go every other week and more like a monthly thing even though I am a huge fan of the team. Its all just perspective but I do not think you can judge how well this team is doing based on attendance and ticket sales because there are a lot of diehard fans that don't really go to the games for the reasons described, plus bringing in fans south of the arena is going to take a lot of time and be very hard but they are getting there. Winning will most certainly help but at the end its gonna take more Floridian natives to get hooked on hockey because every time an original 6 team is in town sold out arena.
There’s some fairness to THG’s point. Florida as a state has always had their ups and downs with attendance in sports. Dolphins, Heat (although not nearly as bad now), Bucs, Marlins, Rays, and even the Bolts before the Stamkos era had these attendance numbers fluctuating from good to bad turnouts. It’s much like California outside of the Dodgers, Giants, and I guess the 49ers. Fans want to see a winner and no one is going to a suburb 40 min from a major city if the team is run poorly which they were a decade ago.
Of course a lot of that has changed and winning in the playoffs helps. Shannon does make a point that this is a team that needs to start showing more consistent turnouts when the team is very good.
Maybe the cup run is the best medicine possible for that. As a Pens fan, that was an issue before Crosby and Geno came in.

Canadians have a cocky elitism to them within the sport and yet they haven’t won a cup in 30 years. I believe most of their negative takes on American teams derive from envy. Pay their bs no mind

Jaws, I've been making this point for the past 2 years. We've got better attendance from 2 kind of 3 Canadian teams in Ottawa, Winnipeg, and Buffalo. All 3 which have really good squads and very good individual players who are exciting to watch. Then there is the Devils who we have better attendance than who obviously is in the Metro and in a massive metropolitan area, who also went to the 2nd round, with future bonafide superstar on their team. Next up in my case for the Cats is the Islanders, Kings, and Hawks. All 3 of those teams draw no more than 600 more asses in seats on an average night than the Panthers, and those 3 teams have a larger population in their CITY LIMITS than the Panthers do in 60 Mile radius surrounding the arena. Enough with the Panthers attendance BS. If the team didn't move 12 – 17 years ago, it MOST CERTAINLY IS NOT MOVING NOW.
Location of the arena. It’s a similar situation (although not as bad) as Arizona: The location of the arena. I live in Detroit and flown down to watch my wings play the cats numerous times over the years and the arena is so far away from Miami and Ft Lauderdale. If it were in Miami like it used to be, you’d see a huge change in attendance.

He’s talking from his Canadian perspective and just looking at numbers he doesn’t understand what the ownership did to the fans, I used to go all the time when it was cheap then we made the playoffs and lose to the Islanders and during that series actually no it was the NJ series they started taking advantage of their fans again. We are abused wife syndrome fans…. Skidish to return because we seen south Florida teams win then dismantle like the Marlins did

It’s all about disrespecting Florida and it’s fans that’s all it is. That’s why the dumb coach of Carolina and other sports new casters trying to pull that garbage of “We didn’t get swept” … uhm sir, yes you did, Carolina got swept winning 0 GAMES… bet money that had the shoe been on the other foot and the Panthers lost the exact same way, they’d all be talking about how Florida got swept. But because they want to hate us , they want to refuse giving us credit by saying “it was not a sweep”

Also, the Panthers are going anywhere. With the economy is the way it is, it'll be hard for most sports franchises to have sellouts night in and night out.

The fact that Panthers fans didn't waste their time going to the games over the last 25 years is not the insult that most Canadian hockey nerds think it is.
Love you Jaws! Spot on the free ticket thing. I would get calls from the ticket office asking me to buy season tickets, but I always told them that I go for free so why would I buy? I've been going to 2-3 games per year every year since 2011 and have always paid. The fanbase and the attendance has improved dramatically over the years. If they were going to leave it was BEFORE Viola bought the team and the product was devalued. No way that they go anywhere now.

As a NJ Devils fan who knows about his team not filling a building it seems you validated what TEG said.. If the team had to give away those amount of tickets to fill the building or even to draw as many butts in the seats then you 100% had an attendance issue..
I do not know if you still do or will after this year have an attendance issue but based on your own words & your explanation of what happened with the new owners then up to about 2 years ago (Covid games excluded) the Florida Panthers had an attendance problem..
As for your issues with THG not using his platform to cheerlead in the direction of the Panthers for all of their recent accomplishments you are wrong for asking him to do so.. It is your job as a Florida Panthers channel to be a cheerleader for your team..
Since THG covers the NHL, & to a lesser extent all of hockey, he should never be a cheerleader for any team.. He should, as much as humanly possible, be impartial…
I live in the North East United States.. Right now the Coyotes are getting the most relocation attention from hockey fans here but for at least the last 20 years I have heard at games, in sports bars, at work & any where I hockey fans congregate that they have the opinion that the Florida Panthers NEED to be relocated… I have even heard this week, despite the amazing & well deserved success the Panthers have achieved this year, that a few North East hockey fans believe that the team you are so passionately supporting should be moved to a new location…
Where I am located the perception of the Panthers are that they are not true fans, that they don't attend Panther games & the team will be better off moved, even if it is to a better location in Florida… I am not one who agrees with that sentiment but I do hear it often.. I also believe that those above statements are not exclusive to the North East market…
Either way I wish the Panthers good like & I look forward to seeing them in the Finals…
Lets go Panthers! It is unfortunate that people can't talk good about the panthers, and the work these young men put in to get the opportunity to play for the ultimate prize, but all we hear is the team's attendance record. That indeed is a superficial take of this panther team by the hockey guy. Great video Jaws. Habs fans have been fairly supportive.
As a Lightning fan, I can simply offer this advice: revel in this. Drink it in, because it will NEVER go away. The "purists", the "traditional" hockey fans will NEVER accept you. They will NEVER accept the market, the state, anything about you. Love EVERY second of it. I cannot tell you how much I love the Panthers making this run for this very reason. F*CK THEM. They will NEVER give us our respect, they will NEVER praise us the way they do Chicago, New York, etc. Win the whole thing and stick it down their up-turned noses.
