  1. I've seen fellow Caps fans that have been confused by the Sandin trade. They're able to get a young defenseman with loads of potential for a soon to be free agent who has played well out of nowhere and a late first. I think Sandin is better than anyone they can get with Boston's pick, and will certainly make more of an impact as they begin to retool. I love the trade

  2. I thought it was going to be Schenn & a 1st for Sandin. A change might be good for him. Schenn will be welcomed back big time.

  3. Didn't Holland have to spend to the cap to take advantage of the Klefbomb LTIR situation?

  4. While Kane certainly is not washed up; I think expectations among many Rangers' fans is dramatically overblown.
But, the Rangers got Kane for a bargain bin price, so Kane doesn't need to bring a ton for it to be a worthwhile trade.

  5. I don’t compliment the caps very often when it comes to trades cause I think a lot of the time they kinda drop the ball, but that trade for Sandin could be huge.

Gustafson’s value is at an all time high, the team has desperately needed youth and more talent in the 2nd-3rd defensive pairings, especially with them just shipping out Orlov.

It’s a smart move, especially with playoff hopes being gone for the year. Gotta just look to next year and count on these younger guys to keep improving.

  6. Toronto fucked up, Sandin was the best blueline player they had. Sandin is going to be the next Victor hedman and his play style is like niklas lidström.

  7. I'm pissed about the Kane trade and I think it's bad for hockey/sports. No trade clauses need to go.

The Blackhawks did everything for Kane, he won three cups with them, and they paid him well.

They even know they are in a rebuild and willing to trade Kane to allow him to compete for a fourth cup.

But Kane acted like a spoiled 5 year old and said NYR or nothing and absolutely shafted the return the Blackhawks could get for him.

What a coward and an absolute selfish move. I use to like Kane. But I will never cheer for him again.

  8. The East seems to be All In…to set themselves "ready" for the battle of the Playoffs.
As a Caps fan, I'm glad to hear your thoughts on Sandin.

  9. would have liked more discussion of Pulju as a player and what it means for CAR.

  10. A few weeks ago, I was completely against the Rangers getting kane. Thought the price would be MUCH higher. I told my friend and brother a few weeks ago, "Unless they are willing to take something like a 2nd and 5th…" Both said I was crazy and that wouldn't get it done.

Agreed on not always spending to the cap. Always a good idea if you can to have some space throughout the season.

  11. I'm a Leafs fan, this deal is a depth move in a pick to Toronto, it adds some playoff experience to their lineup. For Washington they get a future top 4 defenceman who will be very good in the near future. Tough trade for the Leafs, time will tell who gets better with this trade. Tough seeing sandin go, I think he'll be a fantastic player.

  12. Never really thought about it like that, but there are absolutely some teams that stupidly spend to the cap because how could you not spend as much as you're allowed to? I thought the goal was to build the BEST team possible, not the most expensive one.

  13. Buying stars doesn't always work. This will be cap-heck in the future, they had better get to the finals. The East is a Beast…
