Lucas Raymond shows he should have been the 1st overall pick in 2020

Lucas Raymond was an early 2020 draft 1st overall pick candidate.

Alexis Lafreiniere, Quinton Byfield and Tim Stuetzle all went ahead of Raymond.

While Raymond is clearly getting the best opportunity currently after both Lafrieneire and Stuetzle started in the NHL in last year’s shortened NHL Season, Raymond is making the most of his opportunity and showing that everyone underestimated his skill level maturity and hockey IQ.

So far in his first 13 NHl games Raymond already has 14 pts including a hat trick a 3 assist game on the weekend vs Buffalo and 6 pts in his last 5 games.

He is a fixture on the improving Detroit power-play along with fellow Detroit rookie Mortiz Seider who looks already like a No. 1 NHL defenceman.

Red Wings won their last 2 games on the week including a come from behind win vs Buffalo and a 5-2 win vs a depleted LAs Vegas squad.
