I’d like to see the Flyers select the best available player, I don’t care if he’s 5’5”. It’s good to have some size – there are some games when you need that. I think a well rounded team with great shooters, great playmakers, speedsters, and heavy hitters will be best suited for the variety of teams that the Flyers will face. I’ve been watching since the Cup years. The past three seasons have been the most disappointing so far. Time to make the changes to bring back some of the glory from
the happy days of the early/mid ‘70s. Let’s go Flyers, and let’s go Lauren Hart.
I don’t understand why you guys insist that the Flyers are still in the “big tough goon” drafting mode. They aren’t at all. In the last 4 years they have drafted numerous smaller skilled players most notably…
Tuomaala 5’10
Andrea 5’9
Desnoyers 5’11
York 5’11
Gendron 5’10
Brink 5’8……
And so on….. where are all these big goon types you insist they always defer to?….
And this year…. Do fans want a Benson type or typical Flyer type like Leonard……fans want whatever player regardless of size that projects to be a top talent that should be had picking 7 this draft. I don’t care if they’re 6’4 or 5’5. I just want top line talent and hopefully steal an elite player or two picking early in these drafts. No one disliked guys like Giroux or Briere or Timonen because they were smaller players. Everyone loved them because they were amazing players that made this team legit.
Why does it always have to be one way or other with Philly fans…..I think knowledgeable fans realize that a balanced team is needed. Can’t be too heavy one way or the other.
And when picking early like the Flyers have these past 2 drafts it’s always BPA. Regardless…..
