I can't come anywhere near your bubbling positivity towards Treliving becoming the Leafs new GM. I am however willing to reserve judgement until we see him in action.

Wow!!! This is not a upgrade. Shanahan is putting himself ahead of the Leafs and the fans. Dubas is a lot smarter then Shanny. Where can you fine a 37 year old GM that’s been with you for nine years

lollllllllllllll, this makes no sense at all. Brad Treliving is an average GM at best, and I am being polite….let’s look at the facts. His teams make the playoffs about 50% of the time, missed the playoffs again last year…not good at all. No upgrade. Signs a 30 year old to an 8 year deal….another terrible signing., deal…Neal, Lucic………goes through 5 coaches in 9 years…lollllllllll….WTF? Gets fleeced in the Tkuchuk deal…..lolllllllllll….wow….and he is the best out there…lollll…..MB – even worse, much worse…just look at his record…lolll. Its comical listening to the commentators about who they should hire next…..give your heads a shake….are you all brain dead???…wow…We had the best young minds in the game….Toronto has one of the best records in the league over the last 5 years….made the playoffs every year….just knocked off TB…..Bring back Dubas before you make a really big mistake.

Trelivings problem is contracts. He either over pays players and gives them long contracts like Huberdeau or he misses out on contracts like tkachuck where they could have locked him in when he was young. Does that mean he can't assess talent. Who is responsible for the draft? Is that the GM or the team of scouts? The other thing is that a lot of the flames talent is undersized which may be why they dropped so low. The question is can these small guys handle the playoffs? One or two small guys is fine but when a lot of your team is small then they tend to get run over in the playoffs.
So what you're really saying is that he was the best secret agent for the Florida Panthers. He sent Bennett and Tkachuk there.

I don't who this new GM is but we will see with time how he performs. Knowing he drafted good players today makes me believe there will be more success in the future, but for now leafs fans as well as myself can relax knowing we have a GM

If the same people are making the decisions IE Brendan Shanahan!! Does it really matter who's the GM!! The Leafs need ONE person to make all personal decisions! That way if it not getting better after 3 years or so you KNOW who's the problem! Brendan Shanahan needs to be FIRED!!

Jay Feaster drafted Sam Bennett, but otherwise, yes, Treliving did a good job with the Flames, drafting, developing and trading.
