Credit to those who predicted this when the press conference was announced yesterday. It still seems odd to me to have an in-person press conference for something like this as in my experience most teams at most just send out a tweet + press release when they extend coaches or GMs.
It does make me wonder if there is some other news that will be announced at the same time which was enough for the team to want to do a press conference and take questions from the media.
Still, I think most here will agree that Francis has done a pretty great job building this roster after how few trade opportunities the rest of the league gave him during the expansion draft. IMO nabbing Tolvanen off waivers and signing Kartye as an undrafted free agent are among this FO’s biggest wins. It’s still too early to fully judge his Entry Draft picks other than Beniers, but things are looking good and Ryker Evans could make the roster next season.
