Come on Dolan make it happen. Hynes knows how to coach in the metro candidate. He’s the perfect candidate.

  2. TheZapster

Thought they were going with Laviolette…

  3. aasania

I thought the rags already hired Laviolette?

  4. FriedCammalleri23

So their options are Hynes, Laviolette, Babcock, and Quenneville.

    oof

  5. FreeOJ32

Will be hilarious to see rags fans melt down every other game when the lines get thrown in a blender again

  6. IsstvanIII

He’d be so in love with that fourth line, we’d see them get 20+ mins a night

We know Hynes is good for a year of success. In all fairness, character wise, he’s probably the best option, which says a lot about who they are interviewing.

Laviolette, notably, was a Devils front runner before Ruff, but apparently contract negotiations went south. Knowing Rangers ownership, wonder if they’re looking at Hynes due to similar issues.

I also have no doubt Hynes still has in area connections that help. We do know the tri-state teams do have a lot of overlap

I look forward to feasting on a top line of Laf, Kakko, and Kenny Agostino four times a year =D

I might be on one or those “ice cold takes” things but man it feels like the Rags fucked up bad. They basically let emotion factor in to the decision to fire Gallant without doing a very good job projecting how weak the coaching market is rn. They had a good season, lost to a good team, could have ran it back with GG and made the change if needed mid season or next offseason with better names available. Instead Drury jumped the Shark and they are about to sign John Hynes to a long term deal lol.

Before everyone starts dancing on their grave, just remember how much Rangers fans were celebrating when we hired Lindy and that worked out just fine us. Fact is, we don’t know how this will go.

On a personal note, I would be kind of bummed about this because Hynes seems like a great dude and I would not enjoy rooting against him.

Those crazy sons of bitches really broke the Rangers. *sip* ohhh yeah that’s good.

  12. McRibs2024

Hynes is a good coach. Our team at the time wasn’t ready to compete.

Why take a dig at how the man looks? If you’re gonna be shitty about someone, at least keep it to things they can control, like their coaching ability.

  14. DaMonstaburg

It’s a decision. He’ll improve them but I figured, tactically speaking, he isn’t the right fit. I thought Laviolette would get hired because he’s offense driven.

  15. Grimmer026

His bald head always reminded me of an un-cooked chicken breast

Imagine trying to make that team forecheck? Panarin should be calling his agent.

While I’d love to laugh and see the dirt Rags make an awful mistake, I feel Hynes isn’t as bad as we make him out to be. He took a pretty awful Devils team to the playoffs and nearly did the same with that skeleton crew of a Predators team this year. At the very least, he always has our fucking number. Haven’t we lost 8 in a row to the Preds since his hiring?

  18. Why do they need permission to speak to someone who was fired?

  19. Gally341

Careful what you wish for y’all — we are winless vs Hynes.

My only concern is Hynes went like 6-0 against us as the HC in Nashville. He got carried by goaltending in Nashville, and would likely do the same with Igor as his goalie in NY.

The one pro (at least for us as Devils fans) is his absolutely hatred of younger players, so Laf and Kakko and Chytil probably will continue to not develop properly.

That being said, the Rangers would probably be Mid with him behind the bench so I’m kinda ok with it.
