The Godfather of D.C. Basketball was Also a Cocaine Kingpin

The “godfather of D.C. basketball,” Curtis Malone bred three NBA lottery picks and hundreds of Division I players through his D.C. AAU program. Basketball players were not all Malone dealt in, however. In 2014, Malone was convicted for his role in a massive cocaine and heroin ring.

“It’s like the most dysfunctional Robin Hood story ever,” Malone’s stepdaughter said, claiming he sold drugs only to help pay rent for players’ families or help out friends in need. Red Cards investigates, discovering corruption and scandal behind one of the best basketball training programs in the country.

  1. All these drugs cvs and rite aid etc sell and they all good but if a black man do the same they act like he’s the devil smh. Fuck it all this liquor being sold too ain’t nobody locking them up smh

  2. I don’t buy that just because he sold drugs does not make him a monster. He helped people and kids that didn’t have shit. He gave all of his winnings to the people. What has the government done for the people besides Oppressing them, this man sold drugs but fed a lot of people,

  3. Drugs are a part of most peoples lives. Smart people learn to stay away from them.

  4. Idk he probably sold to people the children he worked with knew. I think it's a front, a passion and a way to release guilt of selling drugs to his own neighborhood, leading to homes being torn apart or never the same. Bc he could have helped more people by not giving drugs. He only wanted a specific group in the community to do well. And it's hard for anyone to do well surrounded in a drug epidemic. Selling drugs just made it harder for him to reach the children he wanted to help. Very backwards trippy person.

  5. So glad that there are so many here in these comments who are not allowing the narrative to just be that Curtis Malone was this evil drug dealer. Definitely wish he hadn’t let himself get caught up in the life, nonetheless he has done plenty of good in his life for young people and that should be a part of his story whenever it is told. With that said, he’s paid his debt to society and I hope he gets back to doing the good work.

  6. Screw what the media and government says. He cared about and helped more people than they ever will. Dude just wanted to help his community. A true king right there.

  7. Half a 🔑 is nowhere near kingpin dude was just making some things shake on the side free that man he ain’t do nun wrong

  8. D.C been off the hook since the 70's right after those riots took place…. Things got better last decade and that's due to gentrification …

  9. When will they arrest those government agents who facilitated large scale drug deals ? Manuel Noriega Pablo Escobar and Rick Ross were all in cohorts with the government to sell drugs and all were punished by the same people who sold or bought the drugs " the US government"

  10. Little bit of bad? How do you define bad? The drug addicted mom who is out in the streets with young kids at home not eating? Those same kids now caught up in the system? That’s a whole lot of bad. An entire generation lost. Shyt contaminants everything, not just a little bit.

  11. A lot bigger criminals wearing suits in Washington doing their best to destroy whatever it is that can give them more power and make them more money.

  12. The DEA lies
They made this man out to be a Pablo Escobar..if anything he was a low to mid level middle man…didnt use only made the money from literally being a middle man…

  13. he’s done more for those kids than those fucken cops ever will, fuck them

  14. Sad it doesn’t bother these kids that he’s killing people in their community ……… no matter how good he was at helping people he was helping and killing at the same time

  17. Sounds like he did more for the community than the government 🤔. He took care of many young people and had to do it without government support. Free Curtis!! and give him the funds he need.

  18. Sometimes you must do certain things to do good and he may have hated but dud for the kids so they can have a good life. Yes it was bad but sometimes you have to.
