    I think *some* of the Expansion Draft criticism is warranted though overblown. Dunn especially stands out as a pick many criticized at the time but looks brilliant now. Overall Francis has done an excellent job, especially since he made the decision to sell ahead of the 2022 trade deadline. Notable moves since then:

    * Jarnkrok to Calgary for a 2022 2nd (Goyette), 2023 3rd, 2024 7th
    * Giordano + Blackwell to Toronto for a 2022 2nd (Kokko), 2023 2nd, and 2024 3rd
    * Lauzon to Nashville for a 2022 2nd (Nyman)
    * Appleton to Winnipeg for a 2023 4th
    * Johansson to Washington for Sprong, a 2022 4th (Spicer), and a 2023 6th
    * Signing undrafted free agent Tye Kartye out of the OHL who won AHL rookie of the year and was a contributor in the playoffs for Seattle this season
    * 2022 free agents include Burakovsky (team’s leading scorer before injury), Schultz (4th leading playoff scorer), and Jones (whose wins over the winter got Seattle to the playoffs)
    * 2023 3rd + 2023 4th for Bjorkstrand (scored both goals in game 7 vs Colorado)
    * Tolvanen off waivers for free

    These are pretty much all wins for Seattle that got them to within 2 goals of the Western Conference Final have put them in a very strong position for the future.

    If you had shown me that headline and date a year ago I would have been shocked, but he’s done very good work since the deadline last season.

    How are we supposed to watch the actual press conference?

    The thing I like best about GMRF is he is not a show boater. Keeps his cards close to the chest and doesn’t use the rumor mill. Very old school in demeaner. Could be progressive as all hell in how he runs his staff but we will never know as everything stays in the house. On a another note I was really hoping for a CAR-SEA Stanley cup so it would be old GMRF team vs new GMRF team. Maybe next year.
