  1. As a Flames fan I can say that you're getting a competent, if not amazing GM. Decent at drafts and trades, can usually negotiate good contracts (unless the players don't want to be there to begin with) and he seems like an all around good guy. UFA signings are a bit of a yikes and be prepared for a lot of press conferences where he says a lot of words but provides very little actual information.

  2. I would rather see them run it back with a new coach than split it up. We traded Kessel after 7 years of failure only to see him succeed elsewhere immediately – How do you even begin to replace Auston Matthews? A 60 goal scorer who is 6'4" and physical and elite defensively. How do you even begin to replace Mitch Marner? A 100 point scorer, an elite playmaker, a magician some nights and a Selke candidate. How do you even begin to replace William Nylander? A clutch 40 goal scorer with speed and a fantastic shot. Trading these guys and losing the trade might be catastrophic and could return us to the dark ages of the Burke-Nonis era.

  3. I guess this is what happens when you scrape the bottom of the barrel.
I get vibes that he's the type of GM that would trade the core 4 for David Ayres.

  4. So I'm confused. Is this still part of the Shanaplan? Because if it is, as someone who doesn't like the Leafs, I LOVE the Shanaplan.

  5. Someone in the core four must go. Ten free agents, Auston and Willy will get bigger chunks of the cap moving forward. Tavares is the only player you can get fair value for and they must explain this to him. He's getting older and slower. Time to move on, JT

  6. He was LOSER in Calgary and he'll be a bigger LOSER in Toronto! The Leafs as an NHL franchise are total LOSERS! I'm done with them. I hope they fail forever!

  7. I've been a very loyal and patient leaf fan for many many years but this franchise has really got me down to the last straw. Seems everyone that leaves this organisation wins a cup, that speaks volumes 🤔…saying this if this team goes backwards next season I'm done with this team but I will give this GM a chance to at bare minimum duplicate what has been accomplished this year

  8. So the guy who in Calgary made his biggest "trade" when he handed Tkachuk to Panthers on a plate for Huberdeau – is now in charge of the Leafs

  9. Treliving may not be the big splash many wanted, but he's a pretty safe bet. He's performed reasonably well when his hands were tied and I think he did quite well in Calgary with the Tkachuk trade with Florida. He was dealing in a position of no leverage and still managed to get two quality players back AND signed them to 8 year deals. He was then able to get Kadri for 7 years. One may argue those deals may not age well towards the end, but all things considered, I think he did pretty good there.

  10. Trade Nylander as he is the highest goal scorer from last season 40 goals should be accepting grades being. $6.5 mill and growing could be as high as $8.7 mill so trade get a goalie or high end D

  11. P Package deal with Nelander or GT with Murray to a team for something in return that maybe JT would be excepting but there has to be a package deal cause you gotta get rid of Murray he sucks moose you know what

  12. Any rookie GM will make mistakes. They learn from their mistakes and a new team gains. BTL have learnt from his mistakes in Calgary.

  13. I'm a Habs fan and I would have loved, in a morbid kind of way, to see Marc Bergevin take the job.

  14. So the Leafs hired a failure to replace a failure. Looks like they're happy to repeat their wild success in the recent past.

  15. What if Treliving becomes the guy who lost Gaudreau, Tkachuck, then Matthews and Marner…?

  16. Love the news. Looking forward to laughing at your garbage team for many years to come, Steve. Keep your chin up. It's always funnier when Toronto fans believe they have a chance. 🤣

The "shanaplan", is in motion. Sit back, and enjoy the ride.
