Zack Kassian blindside hit on Petr Senkerik // Canada vs Czech Republic WJHC

More good hockey stuff at http://twitter.com/#!/25stanley Zach Kassian got a game-misconduct for his hit on Senkerik. He did not hit the head of his opponent (according to TSN Pierre McGuire), but he sure went blindside. Sorry for the bad video quality.

  1. @WahooWa1819 It was a tottaly clean hit that sends a message to the other teams in the tournament. Keep your head up or Canada is gona rock you.

  2. @Alcan196 No need to turn to name calling. Apperently he didn`t or else he would have said so, I think I`m safe by saying what I did. And yes the shoulders were being raised while making the hit to the chin, which is iilegal and dirty. This is made clear since directly after the hit his shoulders are high and fully extended upwards, meaning he was raising them during the hit.

  3. later in that game the announcers explained that if the hit causes the players head or neck area to hit the ice it is a headshot which is totally ubsered because that was a clean hit,
~dont judge someone on there history

  4. I'm Czech and I fuckin like this his…he just finished his check…I do it too :)…too bad he got hurt…reminds me of Phaneuf on Olesz

  5. @KatanaSpirit why are you insulting the czech player for getting hit, it's not like he called the bad penalty. The ref did, you fucking headcase.

  6. glad he'll be playing for the east. lol. kassian is gonna be a killer for the sabres. dustin brown milan lucic clone.

  7. Not dirty, and i usually think most questionable hits are dirty. Unfortunate the other player got hurt. Everyone that plays the game is aware of the risks going into it though.

  8. @jkn0127 Rome got suspended for the entire stanley cup playoffs for similar hit though and his was straight on, not from a possible blind side. So going by previous decision in the NHL it would be viewed as a late/high for anyone just getting into hockey.

  9. Clean hit. I am a Czech so I could be biased but I am not. Former ref and player. There is absolutely nothing wrong about this hit. In fact, it is in all aspects by the book perfect hit. Hits like this will send a guy to the hospital. But just because the player gets injured by such devastating force, it should not suggest that it is illegal. End of story.

  10. @ckahnlund You are wrong. He plays the puck prior to the hit. Hust because he does not have the puck anymore does not mean that he is still not legally exposed to the hit. He touches the puck. The opposing player is already lined up for the hit and he is just finishing his move. The NHL rule book explicitely alows for such hits. Perfect hit by the rule book. Most devastating hits are those where all the energy of the hitter is transfered to the "victim", and this was apparently the case.

  11. @ckahnlund And, a Czech, too. Look it up in the rule book, it is all there. Perfect textbook hit.

  12. @ckahnlund Like I said, you are wrong in your assessment. Look it up in the rule book so we don't have to waste our time by engaging in a pissing match. This was by the rule book a perfect bodycheck. Your argument with other player touching the puck does not fly. There is a time allowed for hit to happen AFTER a player who is being hit touches the puck. He becomes a fair game and he must protect himself at all times. Learn the rules. Then learn to apply them. It is not easy but you can learn
