  1. Life long Leafs fan, I can expect to be a fan of a new team next year. This guy is just going to be Nonis 2.0. Good luck to him, but I don’t expect much.

  2. If the "core 4" is returning…I don't see how this organization has the financial flexibility or assets to really change the dynamic of the team. Rotating 3rd and 4th liners is not the answer. Keefe is not going to change the way he coaches. Not sure we're going to see much change here.

  3. Brad Treliving | 9 seasons | 362-265-73 .621% | 2 Division titles
Playoffs | 14-25 | 2nd Round Twice | Qualified for playoffs 55% of the time
Left Calgary with $1.25M to fill 5 roster positions for 2023-24 season ($250,000 per)

    Kyle Dubas | 5 seasons | 221-109-42 .706% | 1 Division title
Playoffs | 13-18 | 2nd Round Once | Qualified for playoffs 80% of the time
Left Toronto with $9.14M to fill 8 roster positions for 2023-24 season ($1.14M per)

  4. As a positive..
He is not afraid to make trades. The biggest issue will be making those trades and getting a return that will win them the Stanley Cup.
We all know Tkachuk wanted to be traded, and the return he got for him was awesome however those players didn't get to where the Team needed to be at the end of the Regular Season.Remember Calgary was only a point ahead of Florida.Yet Florida is on the Stanley Cup Final.
One would think that the players they got in return would at least squeek then in..
10 UFA July 1 is a load on his shoulders walking into this one
and Mathews and Nylander after next season.
It's a load and hopefully he signs a good contract, cause this GM position could easily be short-lived one if Toronto goes backwards this next season.

  5. Treliving. if you look at calgary's team with him as gm. not very good . only the leafs would hire a new gm worse than theie old gm.

  6. Idiots it is not a learning process to not lose your best players for nothing.

  7. Because the best guy for the job is the guy that lost the biggest trade of the 2022-2023 season 😂.

  8. Why not just keep Dubas if you're going to hire this guy. This makes no sense.

  9. This is not really much of an upgrade & not much more experience to what was already there. I am not really sure what the thinking is behind this move, it seems more like it was a pick of the leftovers from Boston Pizza.

  10. Allowing Sheldon Keefe to return for the final year of his contract will be a wasted year. Best to fire him now so he can apply elsewhere and Treliving can hire Peter Laviolette.

  11. Even though Shanny phoned Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Tavares individually to assure them that the team will run it back with the Core-4 intact, just like Dubas’s “it’s either Toronto or no where else”, Shanny can change his mind by saying that Treliving had conducted a thorough assessment and he wants to trade one of them, i.e. Nylander is a hot commodity who will command a king’s ransom in return.

  12. They could have hired me for a lot less. I've won as many Stanley Cups as him – zero.

  13. The Leafs are headed down the rabbit hole. Just the start of another cycle of failure . BUT, the owners don't care. Fans do! Ownership will continue to make big bucks until fans stop paying the bills. In other words NEVER!

  14. DON'T expect him to do anything magical. Dubas blew most of the draft picks for this year's run, and there's a ton of UFAs that he can't re-sign, PLUS he has to get extensions done for Matthews and Nylander…

  15. I see Treliving changing the focus from the top 4 of 6 forwards to the top 4 D. This means either Marner will be traded before July or Nylander before next season to accommodate the change of focus and cap distribution.
