Completely agree. He is not worth it. Between how he conducted himself in Toronto and how he is handling this definitely not worth it. Seems to me if he really wanted the job, he would have given an answer by now.
It's simple for me. The team isn't winning the Cup in the last gasp years. We know this. It'll be about what this GM can do for our rebuild after that. Dubas is so far and away the best candidate to oversee that process.
The Marlies have made huge strides over his time there. Finished 6th in the league this year. Toronto frequently uses their guys, like Knies this playoffs. Dubas gets an A+ for his work with prospects and development. In conditions you'd expect the Marlies to get worse (with the Leafs trading picks to contend), they got better.
He excels at what the Pens need him to do best. The others are unproven in that regard. That makes it a slam dunk.
FSG is right to do everything they can to get him.
Is pull a Shanahan unless they know something we don’t and send him on his way.
Maybe FSG is telling all GM candidates that Carter has to stay and play.

At least in Duba's only position in Toronto, he wasn't bad. Didn't help get them to the cup, but he didn't botch things either. Other than his sappy unprofessional way of ending things there, he has no indictors that say he might be a bad GM for the Penguins. Botterill's only job at GM that wasn't in an assistant role, was a failure in Buffalo that saw him fired. In weighing the two, I'd rather they go with a candidate who hasn't had their only experience at GM be a negative, regardless of any success they had as and assistant. Yes yes, shame how embarrassing this whole thing is that they put themselves at the mercy of a candidate who's still undecided. I guess that's what happens when you sell the team to someone who doesn't know anything about hockey, and is as connected to the franchise, it's fans, and the city of Pittsburgh as I am to the Chinese made air purifier I bought on Amazon.

Good thoughts on the subject. I don’t think this guy is prime era Craig Patrick or anything. If he wants the job, great. If not, fine. I get that’s it’s not the most desirable position anymore. Just move on to the next guy. If he’s really taking this long to decide, he doesn’t really want the job in my opinion.

The fact that they're waiting on dubas also tells me the other candidates didn't blow them away.
This is such an embarassing take. It's been like a week since they made the offer. With a holiday in there. Relax.
My initial post never appeared so I 'll try again. But I disagree. No news is good news. Negotiations take time and should remain out of the public. Most of you know that. I get it tho. People want to know and when they don't know, its human nature to criticize. I'll take an ownership like FSG over some egomaniac any day!. There could be multiple reasons he hasn't been announced. Perhaps a dual role VP/GM is being hammered out for him. Maybe he wants to bring his family in for the presser. If FSG were to move on from him, I believe they would have made it public like they did the other candidates.

Hey DK why did we sell to this Boston group that obviously doesn’t care about this team and is leaving it a dumpster fire… FSG left the Redsocks a train wreck in their own home town… what happened and why was this group allowed to purchase a team in Pittsburgh
