  1. If they don't move Austin Matthews you guys better get used to not winning cups in Toronto. Only time this guy is on a team that wins the cup is if he is like the at the TAvares stage of his career is out there on the ice with his walker and other guys get the job done. Other then that YOU WILL NOT WIN A CUP WITH MATTHEWS AS YOUR MAIN GUY ON YOUR TEAM…IT'S JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN….SO I HOPE YOU LIKE HIS FLASH DURING THE REGULAR SEASON BECAUSE THAT IS ALL YOU ARE GOING TO GET FROM THIS GUY. HE'S SOFT!

  2. I can't imagine Matthews will want to commit to an extension until he sees what the team looks like next fall. I still think he will stay in Toronto, but why would he make a commitment this early. I wouldn't be surprised if he says he is going to wait until closer to next year before he makes a decision.

  3. matthew Nylander little marner go take some boxing lesson like the old leafs of the 60s you guys are scared

  4. I have confidence in Brad Treliving after seeing this conference. For him to fly down and be in person with Auston & his agent shows commitment. I would look for Auston to sign 8yr @ $12.7m that's $101 million dollars, $120 mil is $15m/yr. It doesn't entirely rule out a trade of him later, but if you cannot have a "signed letter in the drawer" for 8 years, you have to look at dealing him at the draft. On #34's side… he probably wants to pad his stats and play more desperate 1-yr in order to earn closer to $14-15m but unfortunately he doesn't deserve to get McKinnon & McDavid numbers right now, McMatthews will get $12.7 and be the headline reads "Auston Matthews is now the highest paid player in the league signs at $100 million". Chucky was a sign-n-trade, and it wouldn't rule out dealing him… but this will help secure his future for generations with his family! It's a risk signing a 4-5 year bridge deal at higher amount (for both sides), because if he drops off… his value REALLY goes down. If he goes up in value, the organization wants to say they got a fair deal. This is just business, nothing personal. Who gets to make $100 mil in their lifetimes? Really! If he doesn't sign max term in Arizona when Brad goes… you ship him out for assets/picks.

  5. You three give us one, just one good reason why Kyle Dubas had to wait for the Leafs to make their announcement first. Kyper comes across as a Dubas hater, typical for the Leafs to kick a guy in the gut with the highest win percentage on the way out. Dubas was great for the Leafs, he lost to Shanny not because Shanny is great but because he did not want to loose a power struggle to a bright young man he brought in who surpassed him in such a short time. Also, why in God's name do you support the idea of trading one of the 3 stars (M, M, N) in order to make this team a cup contender, specially with Matthew Knies becoming a regular. All that the three stars need is better, larger and more grinding wing support. Really….

  6. Dubas finally showed his true colors… talks about his family obligations and then runs straight to the penguins for a presidents job… the team is pretty much a mirror image of himself.. a lot of potential, but the fame and money went to their heads and when they choke, they blame everyone and everything but themselves so they can justify(to themselves anyways)taking maximum pay for minimal accountability.

If mathews wants 14 million at anything less than 7 years then we know who he really is too and it's time to trade that individual season record, playoff choke artist for guys that know how to fight back when they get sucker punched in the playoffs…

  7. BT PC instilled confidence. Compare to Dubas with Kowtowing to ownership.
