interesting subject Alex brought up at the end. Montreal's never had the best teams, just players that really want to play for the Canadiens. Is that a fault of management (i.e. do we need to start trading out guys and getting "the best team") or is this m.o. of team building good enough? On the other side of that coin, look at toronto. All the skill and talent and widely considered one of "the best teams" yet how many of them really want to be a leaf? What does it mean to them? Just a pay cheque? Almost seems like another analytics vs. intangibles debate.
Even without listening to Alex's answer, we keep him. He's big, pretty quick, gritty, perfect for the younger players that saw what he can do in the cup run, and he's young enough to help lead them to another stanley cup finals. I would focus more on relieving Dvorak, Hoffman, and keep what we have. Let's be patient. I would be more apt to see what I could get for Lane Hutson in a depth trade in the next couple of years, should he continue with his current pace. His only drawback is size. Big skilled bruising defences win cups.
