Luke Schenn on the Panthers being one win away from the Final, his future and more
Former Canucks Defenseman Luke Schenn joined the guys to chat about the Panthers being one win away from the Stanley Cup Final, the Leafs season, his future and more.
Iād bring him back at the right price. Letās be honest: he was economical and probably the best defensive player period on the team. Obviously the cap situation is a mess, but if they can free up some money, Iād pay him max $2.5 on a 2 year deal. Weāre already paying Poolman more than that and even when healthy, heās been less than useless. Sure, a younger version would be preferable, but good luck finding that without making this mess even worse. At any price, I take Schenn over every other defenseman on the Canucks not named Quinn Hughes.
Bobrovsky is on fire like Tim Thomas was in 2011. We all know what happened to the Canucks in that situation. Unfortunately the Leafs highest paid forwards are afraid to leave the perimeter, once you start throwing weight around on them. You arenāt going to beat a hot goalie from well outside – like where most Torontoās shots were coming from. They got some lucky tips, and bounces in round 1 playing that way, and didnāt really deserve to win, as the Lightning outplayed them badly in 5 of the 6 games. Lets face it, Vasilevskiy looked gassed from all the hockey heās played the last 4-5 years. The Leafs didnāt get so lucky with the Panthers running into Bob at his best. Thereās a reason so many people are calling for at least part of the soft core 4 being dealt out of the big smoke. Hopefully it happens, so they have a bit of cap space to bring a guy like Luke Schenn back there, because other than Reilly he was their best player most nights in the playoffs.
Love Schenn. On a separate note, maybe Toronto was a bit too quick to make changes. Florida did beat the Bruins and are now completely shutting down the Hurricanes. Carolina was rolling heading into this series and have a total of 3 goals in 4 games.
Being a Leafs fan I was incredibly excited that you came over at the trade deadline. You played your heart out for my team during the playoffs and hope that you and Morgan remain a team in the upcoming season.
Luke, you are truly admired on and off the ice and I look forward to seeing you in the Homebase Tournament this year and hope you and your beautiful family enjoy another wonderful summer here in the Okanagan!!!
Should have asked him why nobody did a god damned thing when his rookie winger got blind-side karate punched, collared and had his brains pile-driven into the ice…not a god damned single thing
