Marner for Clayton Keller 1for1 incoming.
Right before this he said it was his “job to protect” the core 4.
For those who missed it, he was indicating heavily that it was very hard to find elite talent, and it seemed very suggestive of keeping the core.
After he gave that answer, the reporter asked point blank “So are you open to trading a core piece?” and this quoted reply was, effectively, BT shutting down the question.
extending matthews and nylander and trading them to pitt 50% retained is going to be so, so painful
Wyle Wubas isn’t coming back for 30%, he’s coming back for *everything*
Why does this read like one of those iTunes gift card scammer’s scripts? “Do one thing…”
Very encouraging
This is the correct answer. He should be open to listening on everyone.
At least he didn’t back himself into a corner with a “we can and we will”.
I think you only make this change is if you are not actually interested in making any other changes.
Why pay Dubas $7m to tinker when you can pay Treliving $2m
Luke Fox is very good at quoting something without full context.
I can’t even be mad because of how it brilliantly generates retweets and discussions.
I’m glad he’s not insane like some people around here. I’ve kept saying not to make a trade for the sake of one just because people are pissed off. Making a change for the sake of one doesn’t mean you’re better off. I’m not saying not to make change, but you better be damn sure you’re better off.
He just needs more players like O’Reilly in the mix, so that he can move the core 4 around to lines where they are with grittier players.
We need a coach that encourages defending your star players, and players that don’t just skate away from confrontations anymore.
Matthews and some stuff for Mcdavid
You know how much money they have invested in this core 4? How much advertising and media money they’re making off these guys. The team gets over 100 points every year, your best player just won the hart, your captain left a team to be on your team and is die hard, Marner grew up local and it was his dream to be a leaf, Nylander is cute.
It’s crazy how people just assume they want to trade these guys or that they should. They’re in the business of making money. And lemme tell ya, this team makes money.
My takeaway from BT’s presser is that everything will be status quo. He was brought in to complete the Shanaplan.
