  1. Seems pretty personable, that bodes well. Fresh start is never a bad thing.

  2. I feel like Dubas wanted Shannys job as President and MLSE said no way. So they got a guy who is "controllable" and just does what MLSE and Shanny want without confrontation or question.

I'm not familiar with Brad but he seems like a nice man, but someone who's easily "swayed" when making decisions.

  3. Who will be the 19th Leafs GM and how many years of misery will we have to go through to get him?

  4. I wish I’m wrong but I can’t help but feel Treliving will have even less of a say than Dubas and Shanny will just run it back yet again and hope for the best.
It’s will over skill these days and The Buds to a man aren’t willing to engage and add that physical element to their postseason play.

  5. bullshit Dubas gets credit… Dubas couldnt get the leafs to be the lesser lights of the league for 5 years

  6. Yah I don’t understand while the leafs are a good regular season team, they aren’t winning the division. They aren’t winning president trophies. Those things produce new opponents in the playoffs (usually) and can be a lot better for them than this 2nd/3rd seed in the atlantic

  7. Every NHL Franchise runs operations differently …not the same for all. Not every president and or GM has the same responsibilities in the league. There are unique situations and not every owner has the same view so there's a personal touch to things. In Toronto its very obvious ownership interferes and decisions are based on monatary gain instead of desisions on how this leaf team can win. What sells? Thats all its about. Leafs are the the most wealthiest franchise in league why would they change when they manipule the fan base. People need to wake up and start paying attention . Stop spending money on this team then ownership will be forced to change. NO CUP 1967. No playoff run. Hmm how long. Most wealthiest. FANS DUMB …only bc they tolerate this. NO OTHER CITY WOULD!!!!!!

  8. It really sucks that shanny with no experience at all is making GM decisions. I think he needs to go too.

  9. I think Steve is really taking his anger out on Shanny for Dubas and not thinking accurately of Shanny's job…LOL. I think everyone, including Steve, is overstating what Shanny does…. he is the liaison and red team for Leafs who links the MLSE board with the team management and GM. MLSE thinks money and success and team management thinks Stanley Cup… Shanny links it plus promotes the team in the Socio-Economic world

  10. Dubas wanted Shanny's job? Shanny was like "nah dude I need to get paid too!!"

  11. Steve is great on his game stuff, but let's get off the Shanny hate train, please. Seems to me that Dubas & Pittsburgh were already in bed. Dubas is a double dealer. Think MLSE should ask NHL to have a peek. Dubas is not a standup guy. Believe in Shanahan much more. It was Dubas who said they could & they would &then went out & hamstrung the organization with players that couldn't & wouldn't.

  12. Buying into the narrative created by a guy who said he wouldn't comment (like he wouldn't go to another team) and instead floated out unchecked fairytales via his friends in the media like Friedman is beyond gullible. Dubas's Tiny Talent Time outro was embarassing. Particularly the part where he postured as being holier-than-thou while leveraging his family as a shield. And we forget, he won nothing in the Soo, nothing here despite inheriting three great players and a solid organization. Any objective analysis of Kyle Dubas's career arrives at an underwhelming conclusion. If it wasn't for the rise of the new religion of analytics there's no way he gets this position. Here's to the new boss, same as the old boss.

  13. Bunch of fools sucking off dubas. Guy won 1 round in 5 years, stop crying. Shannahan has 3 cups

  14. Dubas' ship sailed really great but never reached its destination. Steve should move on or stop calling him a Leafs' fan.
Dubas sunk the ship all the time when he was here. Whose mistake is that? Shanahan, Dubas, and Keef should have been fired after losing to Montreal.

  15. Dubas screwed up the RFA contracts. He did not have the experience needed. Over paid everyone on short term deals with no trade clauses? This has handcuffed the Leafs.Future.

  16. So if shanny is the one that makes the final decision than why are you so mad that dubas left Steve? You must think that dubas did a good job obviously, but if shanny decides everything then Kyle should not have any credit. We kept the right guy based on your assessment.

  17. i don think we need the core 4 or 5 for %60 of the teams budget, it was a huge miscalculation to predict the salary cap going up and i didnt see any other team over pay this many stars at once

  18. Dubas did not assemble the core. He unfortunately overpaid his cap on them, and forced them to recruit on the cheap for the supporting cast. He and Pridham bet on the cap going up, but got burned by the pandemic and the flat cap. He did not win anything in 5 years as GM, and never won anything as GM of the Greyhounds. Let’s give Treliving a shot.

  19. Fist thing im hearing is get rid of Nylander……if thats the take and he gets rid of Nylander and keeps that sorry excuse for a hockey player in mitch marner then this team is doomed for another decade. Cant believe anyone would watch marner in the playoffs the last few years and think he's the guy to help bring a cup to toronto. Its embarrassing honestly.

  20. Unfortunately this team will never win a cup with so many in front office. The GM can never do his job because higher ups will continue to Veto the moves that the GM wants to make.

  21. Leafs top player is NOT worth 12 million. Not one goalie is worth 5 million. Way too many guys looking for pay raises. Lots of work to be done and if the right decisions are made, this team could still be dominant.
