Canucks STILL IN on Andrei Kuzmenko, adding more sandpaper to the lineup

Free agent forward Andrei Kuzmenko will be in Vancouver this week for a second interview as he looks to make a final decision in the next 10 days or so.

As well, I look at options for the Canucks to explore as they look to add more sandpaper to their lineup.

  1. Hi clay great Vid once again congrats on 9k subs u deserve it we do need more sand paper probobly Cobb if I can pick SANDPAPER

  2. Hi clay yes more Sandpaper would be great for this team. Almost every night schenn or Burroughs had to fight people like lowry foligno jeannot johnston delo and more and my main Sandpaper targets would be
    delo
    ritchie
    zadorov
    Aston reese
    Crouse
    Lazar
    Paul
    Manson

  3. I like the idea of grit, but i'm a little worried about how Rutherford will go at it considering his previous history

  4. Sandpaper!

When I think of sandpaper, I think of the days of Sergio Momesso and Jim Sandlak being the twin towers that make the playing of Cliff Ronning so much better. And then, to a lesser extent, Matt Cooke and Jannik Hansen also add grit to the team. I don't watch the other teams in the NHL enough now to know what sandpaper players are out there… but let's hope for the best.

  5. Clay-there should be one player on every line that opposition has to watch for incoming hits.

  6. I have to believe that Rutherford has a clear vision for the Canucks future
and it appears that Kuzmenko fits (if true that Van is truly interested and
he as well in becoming a Canuck). Sandpaper? Mid grit – some toughness
with some skill – who? not a clue but I bet or will trust in the new Canuck
management team of which I have a really good feeling.

  7. I'm wondering if the canucks do a whole sale change this summer to give guys like kuzmwnko plenty of opportunity for ice time in the top 6.

  8. They have a lack of team speed. Lack of toughness. Some voids to fill for sure. The bones are good. Some good skill. Maybe a tanking team this year will take Meyers in a trade. Be in it for Bedard or Michkov. Lots of players towards the end of the season improved their trade value. There will be room for Andrei. The team will look a lot different this coming season. The right moves they could make the playoffs next season. Not a completely busted team. Get Motte back?

  9. Kuzmenko is the right target.Take a look at his plus minus. They should be looking for a high plus player.Andrew Copp will sign with the Rangers, but Ryan Strome would be available.A 2 way player look for a plus 5 or better. Not sand paper two way players.Kuzmenko should start on the 3rd line till he gets adjusted, with Podkolizin.Vancouver would need a center to go along with the wingers. The idea is that the 3rd line can step up to a 2nd line role during injuries.Instead of filling in on a top line flip it down to 3rd line until healthy. You should be looking for size

  10. While I'd love to get Andrew Copp, something tells me that he won't want to sign in Canada this off-season wherever he goes

Copp is also looking for a long-term contract at 5+ million a season, and we know it's a massive luxury to be playing 5+ million dollar forward on the 3rd line or lower, at least on a consistent basis

Deslauriers I wouldn't mind, although he's not young and likely will command a premium contract with the toughness he brings

If Lazar can be had for a cheap price, I'm all for bringing over the Salmon Arm native

Marchment is tricky, because he was obviously being carried by his linemates in Florida when it came to his offensive production, making it tough to gage exactly what his market value is. If the Canucks can pick him up for maximum 3.5M against the cap, I think I'd be okay with it

Those are my 2(or should I say 4)cents

  11. Keen to have a look at Kuzmenko, especially if we get that ELC for the first year. For the other guys I like the idea of Copp maybe more than Deloriers, due to the age. I don't really want guys coming in that are in their 30s as its more temporary and declining guys. Prefer to find that kind of guy in mid-late 20s at least.

  12. Copp isn't really sandpaper material (90 pim in 483 games). Deslauriers, Ryan Lomberg, Ryan Hartman even.

Copp really isn't the type of mold that would hold other players accountable for roughing up the stars.

Barclay Goodrow is another player that comes to mind as well.

  13. We should aim to try getting someone big and tough already in the league, and not incredibly expensive, like Reaves or Kassian

  14. Hi Clay Et All, If you want some size and scoring with an edge take a good look at Tanner Jeannot from Nashville. He's like a bigger Brad Marchant but not a licker. He was leading the rookies this year at one point I believe. We need a young guy like him.

  15. Sandpaper I totally agree with what you said we need some toughness I really don't know much about that all the other players as far as the new guy they're talkin about I sure hope we get him don't forget great defenseman have a wonderful trip to Sweden take care and be safe good luck Jacob go Canada go
