Recap of Panthers vs Golden Knights Game One

Well, the Panthers are behind in a series for the first time since round one. They have to win the next one or Vegas could make this a quick Final.

  1. My 11 year old was bawling and yelling at his Panthers to turn it up. Truth be, I went to bed in 3rd but was woken up by the inconsolable kid.

That’s what you get Cousins! The D got caught puck watching on the March goal and allowed an impossible screen. I’m glad for Vegas….and as a soldier, that both owners went to West Point.

Also, in a scramble down low, try going high, not even hard but high…as players and goalies will dive to take away low.

  2. Game 1 of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final is Eric Staal's 100th career playoff game.

Eric Staal is the oldest player in the Stanley Cup final this year. He will be 39 in October.

THE OLDEST PLAYERS IN THE 2023 STANLEY CUP FINAL

  3. Vegas played a great game. Idk how they kept their cool in some instances. I think they’re going the distance this year.

  4. If Florida want's to play that silly chippy style game Vegas is up for it. They don't usually take a rash of penalties, and their PP was just fine and so was their PK. If this keeps up, I'll take Vegas in 5 or 6.

  5. I really hope Florida wins but i think Vegas takes it in the end. They are just incredibly consistent across all their lines.

  6. I'm too old for these long delays between series. The players used to hate it when there was three days between what used to be the semi-finals and the finals (only three rounds back then). They didn't want to lose their edge especially if the opposing team is coming in fresh with no rest between series. The Panthers looks classically like a team that had too long a break. They just didn't look like the team of their previous three series. I expect the Panthers to regroup quickly.

  7. I’d be interested in watching a video about an all time record of teams who got around 5 days of rest before the finals vs those who got only a couple

  8. I'm going to call it right now: Vegas is destined to be the next Stanley Cup dynasty in the NHL. That might make the VGK a hated team, but in the end I'm not seeing any other team even try to "figure them out", and there's simply too much going in their favor for me to think otherwise. Hopefully the Panthers make this a series and at least make the Golden Knights sweat for it, but yeah.

  9. As good as the Knights have been in the first 3 rounds, they've done it with Theodore not really playing well at all. If he continues like fame 1, this team will be the next Champs. That was shea's best game since the all star break.

  10. Terrible calls by the officials last night and I’m surprised nobody is bringing it up. VGK 7 PP +2 min from double minor so 16 min given to Vegas. Additionally a lunge not a lean high stick. So if you watched the game and thought it was mostly even your gonna be in for a shock when panthers can keep 5 guys on ice.

  11. I’m honestly curious here, seeing a LOT of either Florida fans or Vegas haters saying the refs rigged the game and their only argument is that PPs were 7:3. But in all actuality it’s closer to 4:3 because of all the chippy penalties Florida took in the last 6 minutes with Staal’s CC and Tkachuk losing his cool.

Can anyone explain to me how the refs fixed it then? I’m aware there were plenty of missed calls both ways, I mean hell, Pietrangelo could’ve drawn one and taken one within about 30 seconds of each other in the third but neither got called (and that’s just the front of mind example)

  12. They actually pulled their goalie against my knights down a man….meaning 5 x 5….vs my knights…and no goalie…..(not a good idea boys)

  13. Both of the cats goals go in off a knight. While the knights goals… snipe season is open on Bobrovsky😂

  14. If Vegas wins then the final 3 power rankings should be:

    Vegas
    Florida
    And my Dallas Stars!!!

  15. Good call.

“The mystique that was around Florida coming into this series was dispelled.”

The Panthers can still be beaten, Matthew “Florida Man” Tkachuk is not invincible, and the Knights are three wins away from beating the “team of destiny,” becoming the team of destiny themselves.

I don’t want to be the jerk that hunts down ‘Cats in 4’ comments looking for people-shaped clouds of smoke left behind when something has to be abruptly walked back……that said, I hope that sticks belonging to Adin Hill and Mark Stone are in their heads this morning.

    GKG

  16. Composure was the word I would describe VGK’s game last night. And the Theo goal was an awesome example of creating his own time and space.

  17. So it feels to me that Vegas are built around lines whereas Florida is relying on individual efforts.

  18. Fla finds an opponent that can skate with them, and plays as rough as them.
Fla finding the speed of Vegas hilights the Interference they have been running through playoffs. Also Vegas was able to get that second pass off accurately past 2nd forechecker. Eventually you get that open player
    FLA was also undisciplined.
Thought Hill, was good but swimming a bit. Bobrosky was more quiet in his moves.
Also I thought stone got away with a highstick…..but fla also had a few chances to clear the puck, but did not

Bonehead play by Bennet n Tkachuk, eliminated any hope of comeback in last 4 mins

  19. Goaltending alone is seldom conducive with winning a Stanley Cup. Vegas’ depth showed last night, as three lines scored. Panthers are going to have issues.

  20. Steve Dangle said Florida will win = Vegas wins. Jinxed. And I love Florida for their run now = Jinxed, Vegas wins. Avalanche won their Stanley Cup when Dangle didn't pick them to win after he picked them twice. JINX, MAPLE LEAFS GRADE VOODOO HOODOO JINX. Vegas wins.

  21. “We know it won’t go 8 because that’s not a thing…” I don’t know, Shannon. If Bettman can’t get a deal done with the city of Phoenix in time he might force a game 8 😂

  22. If Hill can continue his outstanding play, then the Vegas depth should be too much for Florida and Bob in particular to handle. Also Tkachuk can't keep doofusing out. However, I by no means would count Florida out.

  23. Vegas deserves the Trophy , best Franchise in years , perhaps ever ?

Just Amazing icehockey , Best players in the league doing their MAGIC !

  24. That FLA stat for never winning in Vegas is pretty nuts in the light of the Finals. Hoping they overcome that curse, go cats!

  25. This was still a very entertaining game. Bob made some good saves. Hill made some CRAZY saves. Staal's SHG was very nice and so was Duclair's face off goal. Tbh I thought Stone was guilty of that high stick, but still that was a great shot. Florida just gave up the puck way too many times. Congratulations to VGK on game 1

  26. Plain and simple…. All hope for FLA lies in Bob's game… And it aint looking good after this game… He truly is the reason FLA is where they are – it ain't Tkachuk in my view.

  27. I don't understand how Florida, especially Gudas, can continue to try to instigate fights repeatedly and not get penalized for it when the other team just ignores them. Sooner or later "creating chaos" has to be called as just being dirty. Never thought Vegas would be the clean team in a series.
