I'm doing my rounds on the threads, but we know Treliving has a plan. It possibly includes changing focus from the core scorers to creating a top 4 NHL quality D. As long as Matthews is resigned, it can mean Marner being traded before July, and/or Nylander traded before the season starts.

Some of the dumbest comments I have ever seen are on this thread, such as the ones suggesting that he got the job because somehow his billionaire dad bribed another billionaire to give his son the job. People need to be careful what kind of motives they attribute to the reason why he was hired. It is ignorant and low I.Q. to say the least.
Many reputable hockey minds around the league, as well as in the media (Overdrive, Brian Burke, these guys, and many others) have a lot of good things to say regarding Treliving. What many are saying is that there are very few around the league that work the phones more than him – apparently he is tireless, and is constantly speaking with other GM's to see what would improve the team. Even many Calgary fans have had nothing but good things to say regarding him. People at least need to give the guy a chance.
You could make a very useful team from leaf rejects over the year….cup winning, I’d have thought.
