This year, Michigan defenceman Owen Power decided to stay in school instead of jumping to the Sabres and, as Mark Masters reports, that decision is a huge boost for Canada’s World Junior team.

Power just might complete college and become a NHL UFA upon graduation much like Fox and Vesey did. Knowing if a player is going to sign with the team should be the utmost importance when drafting first overall. For the Sabres and their fans, I hope he signs this summer. But he just might want to keep his options open especially if he can avoid the train wreck in Buffalo.
