Sullivan will find an excuse to put Rust on the 1st line….
You are missing a massive caveat in all of this.
Sully did not look at the first line as Rakell, Crosby, and Guentzel, he viewed Rust as the top line guy. Pretty much 100% of games down the stretch it was Rust. It was NOT a switch up. Rust WAS the first line winger until it was SO bad, he was FORCED to put Rakell back. Sully is responsible for this team missing the playoffs. All he had to do was keep the OBVIOUS best first line together. Horrible coaching.
