  1. I hear what's his name……… uhhh…..
peros.. Ya peros is a smart guy maybe he thinks Forsberg would be more likely to take the suspension seriously and he's not gonna be able to change emelins game just by suspending him

  2. Preds fan here.

I agree with pretty much everyone. The Emelin looked way worse. If Forsberg's hit deserves 3 games, then Emelin's hit deserves more than 5 for sure, what with Emelin being a repeat offender. I fully expected an Emelin suspension today, was really surprised both at the Forsberg suspension and the lack of an Emelin suspension.

I thought the Forsberg hit was high and late, but should have just been called interference on the ice and fined later. Forsberg was at nearly a complete stop, and lifted his shoulder into the blow, but Vesey mostly just ran into him… face-first, because his head was down.

  3. Im a Rangers fan first, and I am Preds fan second. I own gear from both teams and got to games when I can. The Forsberg hit should have just been a fine at most, but the Emelin hit was terrible. I didn't get to catch the game, but from what I have seen there were no penalties on both of them. Emelin deserved a suspension.

  4. Emelin I could see deserving a suspension, but the Forsberg hit should've just been a fine at worst

  5. The only consistency that can be expected from the NHL anymore is inconsistency.

  6. The only reason Forsberg is suspended and not Emlen is because the injury to Vesey had blood and Stall didn’t, so the league automatically says Forsberg’s suspended

  7. The Emelin hit was fine.. Staal basically sat down while going to the corner, his head was already level with the boards before Emelin got there.. what does he expect to happen? Forsberg hit was fine.. no elbow.. and the hit on Arvy from a Ranger was fine because he did the same thing Staal did.. common denominator? No penalties on any of them.

So this was worthy of 3 games? Gotta appease the NY media I guess.

  8. Why does everyone pronounce Mcavoy “MacAvoy”, but pronounce MacKinnon “McKinnon"?

  9. Emelin hit was more malicious but the Forsberg hit was more dangerous. I agree with the nhl on this. Let's stop overreacting.

  10. I think that the hit that Forsburg did is one of the hits that they are trying to eliminate from the game completely. That style of hit injures a ton of players. Cooks got a reputation of being a dirty player on that style of hit. See when a puck carrier is going around the back of the net he almost always is skating with his head exposed and the guy going around the other side to nail him is almost always going to hit the head and most of the time it's a violent hit because of the speed that both players are going.

There's a few of those type of hits that the NHL wants to take away. There's that one and the open hit up the middle that Stevens made a living at.

  11. I definitely think the Emelin hit was worse. The one mitigating factor was how extremely low the guy was hunched over but once you leave your feet I think any thought of a clean hit turned unfortunate goes out the window. The Forsberg one was an ugly result but 3 games for a guy without a history for that is way too much

  12. Foresberg suspension is warranted, it was a blatant hit to the head but the Emelin hit, that warranted a like 10 game suspension

  13. I can understand calling it interference, but it wasn't a dirty hit. There was no ill intent, and unfortunately, Vesey got the short end of the stick

  14. I have to ask, how the heck did Forsburg (who has never had an incident before) get 3 games while the rat Brad Marchand only gets 5 after constantly being one of the dirtiest players in the game. The Emelin hit was suspend-able for sure, but not that Forsburg hit….

  15. Vesey is a piece of shit imo. I couldn't be more happy that it was Nashville that taught him the lesson he needs to keep his head up. Vesey was hit .6 seconds after the puck left his stick. That's not a late hit. Forsberg also had his elbows at his side. It's wasn't dirty at all. Emelin's left foot didn't leave the ice. Staal leaned back and tried to duck the hit, that's why it looked bad. It would have been just another hit in the corner chasing the puck had he not ducked. Neither hit deserved anything. The only reason there was any punishment is because its Vesey, he's on an original six team, and he got a concussion. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Forsberg's or Emelin's play. The Preds absolutely dominated and embarrassed the Rangers and they are getting punished for it. Fuck the NHL.

  16. No way they'd suspend two guys on the same team for multiple games. Sounds like Forsberg is taking a 3 game suspension for both bad hits.

  17. Kronwall made a career out of that Forsberg hit, you don’t see him getting suspended. Forsberg should’ve just got a warning, Emelin 2 game suspension.

  18. Not really concerned about whether or not Forsbergs hit was clean. It was nice to see that smug punk Vesey bleed a little bit.

  19. The Rangers have been plagued with injuries in January. Chris Kreider's injury led to our January downfall, and things have just gotten worse.

  20. 1) Suspensions should have nothing to do with injuries, otherwise it’s a motivation to flop

    2) the player should be suspended only against the team the play was committed against.

    3) the team should only be allowed to dress 19 players when someone is suspended.

  21. Even as a Preds fan, I say Emelin’s hit was worse than Forsberg. I don’t think his was intentional and, unfortunately, Emelin seemed like it was.

  22. I didn’t watch the Emelin hit. I did catch the Forsberg hit and don’t think it warranted a 3 day suspension. especially since he’s never received a fine or suspension before. Yet Marchand a repeat offender who delivered a blatant chicken wing elbow got 5. This shows major inconsistency in player safety.

  23. Both were questioanable. Forsberg didn't have enough time to stop. Maybe a fine but not a suspension. With the Emelin hit he began to fall before emilin delivered the hit. Making the target area smaller. Would have been a fine body check if he wouldn't have gone down
