Buyout so you keep ur prospects…but if traded, which I think is stupid, say goodbye to someone in Hershey. The reason I think a trade is stupid is because this is the last year of 39’s deal. Are the Caps THAT pressed to move him that they’d jettison someone like CMM or HL just to rid themselves of Mantha? Im in no way saying that those prospects are untouchable, but rather it’s dumb to package them in a Mantha trade when he won’t be on the team past next season anyways. I’d honestly like to see what he can do under Carbery, especially since he’s working with a mental coach as well. Maybe he can re-find his game to an extent and drive up his trade value in the process AND put himself in position for another multi-year deal (somewhere else) after the season. Mantha has a lot riding on this year, so we might actually see the best version of him since he came to DC.
