Gudas went at a player who had dumped the puck in. A few years ago that might have gotten him an interference penalty. The injury is all on Gudas. He put himself in that position and Barbashev has a right to go after the puck he dumped in.

Well said. It seems the Snow Flake Panthers fans think that a guy at speed, who just released the puck did anything but prepare for the hit from Gudas. Gudas was leaning low and put himself into a very awkward and vulnerable position. Your explanation is exactly what happened and anybody with any type of high level hockey experience can see that there was zero malice on Barbashevs behalf.
There's a great saying – "Head down, Eyes up!" When someone is coming to hurt you with a big hit, you're not allowed to use your stick to protect yourself, so the reverse hit is awesome. Gudas won't be trying that again against Barbashev!
The entire affair was initiated by Gudas who is known for taking run's at players in order to cause huge impacts. Unfortunately for him, he lost the hit war…..

If Gudas is looking to make a hit, it's bad technique. He doesn't turn his shoulder into Barbashev. He just glides straight at him.
