Ivan Barbashev hit on Radko Gudas – Tough Call Review

Ivan Barbashev definitely made head contact on Radko Gudas. Barbashev didn’t create head contact, and it was unavoidable.

  1. Gudas went at a player who had dumped the puck in. A few years ago that might have gotten him an interference penalty. The injury is all on Gudas. He put himself in that position and Barbashev has a right to go after the puck he dumped in.

  2. Ouch that one had to hurt. My head aches just watching. Sincerely hope there wasnt any permanent damage. Looked clean to me tho

  3. Rule 48.1: Illegal Check to the Head: A hit resulting in contact with an opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted

  4. Gudas ran face-first into Barbashev's shoulder.

If Gudas is looking to make a hit, it's bad technique. He doesn't turn his shoulder into Barbashev. He just glides straight at him.

  5. Imagine how dumb they were playing without any head protection. Gudas would have been a dead man now.

  6. Goonass telegraphed his intent to take Barbashev into the boards as is his usual style. Unfortunately for Goonass, Barbashev had him pegged for what his intent was and was ready for him. Makes hockey a little bit tougher game for them when the goonery backfires!

  7. Well… let's see …hum… I think Gudas got a truck load of his own medicine and too top it off, it was a clean contact.

  8. Forsberg is smiling somewhere.

I mean the head will always be the principle point of contact when you lead with your face. Gudas looked like a fucking rookie in his first year of contact on that play.

"Unfortunate result?" It was Radko Gudas. The only thing unfortunate about that hit was it wasnt harder and Gudas got up.

  9. Barb peeked and saw Gudas coming and insta reacted. Clean nice hit to a guy coming in low and fast.

  10. Agree with everything except for this is a FORTUNATE outcome. At this point Gudas was due for a major karma event.

  11. I agree 100% with your review. It sucks to see Gudas take himself out of what might have been a competitive hockey game … but he initiates the contact. All Barbashev does is brace for the hit.

  12. If people are claiming it's an illegal hit, well, Gudas INITIATED said illegal hit so suspend his ass! He just sucked at hitting there for a second! Oh, he he tried to hit someone that's bigger and knows how to brace for said hit? Wah fuckin wah….keep your head off other peoples body parts if your gunna try running them you idiot!

  13. Well said. It seems the Snow Flake Panthers fans think that a guy at speed, who just released the puck did anything but prepare for the hit from Gudas. Gudas was leaning low and put himself into a very awkward and vulnerable position.
Your explanation is exactly what happened and anybody with any type of high level hockey experience can see that there was zero malice on Barbashevs behalf.

  14. the most satisfying hit in the game for me
bullies that put people in danger deserve some karma

  15. Gudas been laying hard/ dirty hits since the playoffs started. You live and die by the sword. Barbie is a big boy and was ready for it

  16. Yeah, well when ya lean down like that and lead with your face, youre bound to catch a shoulder to the dome🤷🏾‍♂️

  17. There's a great saying – "Head down, Eyes up!" When someone is coming to hurt you with a big hit, you're not allowed to use your stick to protect yourself, so the reverse hit is awesome. Gudas won't be trying that again against Barbashev!

  18. Looks good on his got what was coming to him ,only this was a clean hit something he knows nothing about

  19. The entire affair was initiated by Gudas who is known for taking run's at players in order to cause huge impacts. Unfortunately for him, he lost the hit war…..

  20. Barby keeps his head up and eyes forward…he sees Gudas coming… I think Gudas knew what was coming…………..Barby is too solid of a player to try to punk him
