Oil Spills: For Oilers’ Evan Bouchard, it’s a matter of time

  1. Yeah. Talk about definition of catch twenty two!! Damned if you. Damned if you don’t.
I hope they don’t. Sekera n Russell should be easier to trade away the closer they get to trade deadline. You move one or both of them during next season? That’s when Bouchard can make jump. Unless Jones and/or Bear is proving themselves worthy of stronger role already.

  2. I would think that Jones should have more opportunity to make the opening night roster because he is seasoned in the ahl and performed well in a 5/6 role last year he struggled more when klefbom and Russell went down in the same game and he was pushed into a role as our 2/3 defenseman behind Larson and Nurse… with a healthy start to the season for sekera and klefbom the oilers will still need puck movement from their backend but they should be able to transition some veterans out and bring younger cheaper defenseman in… I heard a very telling state last week Nurse is our 5th highest paid defenseman but also only 4 forwards are paid more than him including Lucic… we need to free up some of the money from defense that ultimately isn't a good enough dcore (individually I like all of them) and allocate some support for RNH Draistle and McDavid
