Anyone who watched have an update on how Cossa and Lemonator did for the Walleye?

I just got caught up and saw they have been eliminated in the WCF for the ECHL playoffs

Cossa has no reason to be in Toledo next year. He proved himself to be ready for the next step of his progression. Even a year that leaves something to be desired in GR is better for him than another year in the ECHL.

As for Lethemon, he’s a 25 or 26 year old minor league guy. He needs a new contract. If they re-sign him, he’ll get some starts in GR, but Cossa is going to be given every opportunity to be the starter with Lethemon being the guy in Toledo.

Be sure not to shed any doubt or patience on prospect goalies, you’ll be crucified by guys who think Haseks grow on Pronman’s iPad.

Cossa has gotten better at his lateral movement. He’s seemed to be a positional goal tender who fills the net with size (see Ben Bishop as an example) upon draft. I think his glove still needs work however and will be the thing that really needs work next if he wants to trying being a full timer for an AHL club.

The reflexes are there I think for this to get better with him. We actually saw some really great saves during the regular season that show he still has potential there, but positioning has really carried him a far way, and the AHL is going to basically force him to get better with his glove and reflexes.

The one thing I think that I did not like from him that we saw was how he played the puck. I saw a ton of really unecessary risk where he would leave his crease to play it in front of him, and while that may work in the ECHL, it absolutely won’t in the AHL or the NHL where teams can easily punish over aggressive goalies.
