[Kypreos] Some NHL teams tell me the free-agent forward (Bunting) could get between $4.5 million and $5 million per season on a long-term deal based on the two-year, $8.5-million deal Andreas Athanasiou got with the Blackhawks. Toronto might be priced out.

I hope we have no plans to bring him back at any price! He’s become a liability, refs won’t give him any calls and will look for reasons to call against him. Thanks but time to move on

  2. If they werent going to pay that for Hyman no shot for Bunting

Can’t blame the guy if we’re offering 3 and someone else is offering 5. I can see Bunts taking a bit of a discount, but I can’t see him turning down millions.

  4. I mean Bunting has often been more of a liability. If he wants to leave for more money he’s free to.

Would like if they could keep him but there are other places I’d prefer to spend the $4-$5m

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out

Love bunting but no shot we pay anywhere close to that…

Lmfao that’s too much money and term. He’s gunna look good in oiler colours.

I feel like $4.5m x 5 isn’t unreasonable for bunting. start pushing the dollars or term any higher than that and I start getting nervous. still feels like he’s somehow underrated, but I’m ok with the leafs not going long term on him.

I don’t mind Bunting on the team, but he’s far from a Hyman level player. Hopefully Robertsons body can hold up this season, I think he has the ability to replace him if healthy.

He would look good in a Pens uniform…

Dumb GMs everywhere i guess…. def not a 5m per year player gimme a break…. obviohsly the refs wont hate him as much in a different jersey but still, also fuck Nick Kypreos and Darren Dreger both are loser schills for the agents

I guess we will find out how much his numbers were skewed by playing with Matthews.

No way Leafs can afford to keep him, wish him best of luck wherever he lands.

whoever pays him this will regret it.

It became very clear that at no point was he able to drive a line or even take advantage of matchups in the bottom 6. Bunting – we’ll miss ya buddy but aint no fucking way.

I wish S&Ts were a regular thing in the NHL. With the hard cap makes no sense it isn’t

His numbers are vastly inflated playing on the top line. He isn’t worth more than 3. His antics are straddling the line from effective pest type player and liability. If some other team wants to give him that contract I’m happy for him but see ya.

We’re such a question mark on LW. We’re hoping Knies, Tavares(?), Robertson and/or Jarnkrok take the top 6 spots obviously but I’m still concerned

The players are not to blame for a non seasoned GM. No one’s stats have fallen further then Mathews this year. What do you think it’s going to cost to keep him. Stop looking at a former consistent first over all and look at the more inconsistent one. His new contract is going to run a lot of talent out of Toronto.

  19. Yes? He’s not in our price range but he put up 63 and 49 point seasons. That’s pretty typical to be in the 4+ range.

Thanks Nick, not like this hasn’t been logically assumed by everyone following the team since October.

I love Bunts, but he’s not getting more than 3.5 from any team, anywhere. Bet.
