  1. I would 100% trade barrie he is horrible a defense it makes my eyes bleeding sometimes and Bouchard us basically just barrie but bigger and he can play d a better but I'm not saying he's great at it cause a ahl defense is probably better than barrie

  2. I’d give Barrie away for future considerations Bouchard is a monster out there if Bouchard was on the #1 pp he would be near a ppg and getting Norris votes

  3. Rumor was Kenny bonehead Holland was gonna take Bouchard in the 2018 draft until Zadina fell to them. Pretty ironic.

  4. Literally arguing with a well known Oiler media guy about this exact topic on twitter right now. Claims that Barrie doesnt need to play D on the Power play. But my argument is simple. Bouch and Barrie have the same amount of points despite Bouch getting limited PP time and Barrie on with Mc Drai. Complete opposites +/- Barrie -5 Bouch +5. While Bouchard carries the puck with poise and calm Barrie carries the puck like it may explode any second.
I was surprised Holland wasted money on re-uping Barrie when there were other great names to go after. If it were up to me Barrie would be gone for some Tim Horton Hockey cards and Sleeve of white hockey tape. Holland should try get what he can but its clear he is passed his best before.
The fact I regret having named my cat with an "IE" on the end as she thinks I am yelling at her on game nights also sways my decision. Trade him!

  5. If Bouchard continues to produce at the rate he has so far, I think he will be considered a better and more valuable defenseman then Barrie is to the Oilers within the next 12 months if not less. He's so skilled with the way he thinks the game and sees the ice. He just needs one full NHL season to really get rolling as he is still needing more NHL experience and ice time before he can be considered a top 2 d-man. Not saying Barrie is a top 2 d-man but Nurse is and Bouchard is already 22 so he's not far away from becoming a really good and consistent defensemen in the NHL.

  6. Barrie for Chariot should be a fun trade. Habs replace Weber and the Oilers get a defensive guy to anchor the blue line

That or they about to sell him to Columbus for Korpisalo

  7. As someone who watches every game I wouldn’t mind a Barrie trade but i would like for them to receive something with some value. The only reason Bouchard hasn’t been put on pp is because already playing 25 min a night and is on pk 1 tippet has said that he doesn’t feel comfortable playing essentially a rookie top like 5on5 pk and pp that’s a lot of minutes.

  8. Yes. This needs to happen. I don't care if he's close with McDavid and a great teammate. GONE PLEASE!!

  9. Would way rather trade Bouchard. Softest D man in the league it’s a joke we going nowhere with him in a prominent role. Just coughs up them biscuits. At least Barrie is willing to grind.

  10. This is nhl 22 gm mode level but imagine

    STARS: Barrie, Koskinen, 2022 & 2023 1st round picks, 2022 2nd round pick

    OILERS: Pavelski, Oettinger

Holland needs to get a legit goalie and another scoring centre in there. Then maybe he could trade for Brayden McNabb or Ben Chiarot

  11. Finisher-McDavid-Puljujarvi
    Nuge-Drai-Hyman
    Fog-McLeod-Yamo
    Benson-New center-Sceivour
    Shore
    Nurse-Bouchard
    New D-Ceci
    Nemo-New D

    New Goalie
    Skinner

    GUYS FOR TRADE/CAP CLEARING
    Barrie
    Koskenin
    Russel/Kokkoek
    Kassian
    Keith
    Ryan

The oilers could use Barrie to pick up a top nine sniper to be paired with McDavid to help give him more looks at scoring, then that gives the ability to run that second line and give you a solid 2 way line that would be lethal, then your third line would have some more skill to it getting rid of the anchor that on it right now in kass and gets rid of his contract and then it gives you options for your centre at 4th line, getting rid of those 2 big contacts near the deadline would open up a lot of salary for a goalie as well as better 2nd and 3rd pairings, could use a couple picks with some talent, maybe a benson to pick up chycrun

  12. Bouchard has developed nice yes but I feel like he should have been on the team more last year which would give him more experience and he would be better already. But not by much he’s still a beauty

  13. Also I don’t know if we move Barrie. He’s fitting the timeline of the current roster very well, we still have a few bad contracts on the team which is why it looks like we need to move Barrie but why would we move him for prospects or picks when the oilers are in a win now mode. Yes there defence is starting to become over stacked with players but Barrie is still valuable as a player and mentor. Unless you can get a solid top 6 winger on a long cheap contract in his prime but I don’t see that being the case. If they trade for picks I’ll be pretty upset with that
