  1. Hall plus 4 in playoffs Bertuzzi minus 4 I write it every time Hall and Debrusk on the same line

  2. He has had only one really good year in his six years in the NHL. He only had four goals in 21 games with us. You can’t base a long-term contract on just a seven game series. 5 yes 30 mill is a stretch. Don’t forget Hall was one of the best players in the playoffs and that was after missing a bunch of time.

  3. If you’re solely trading Hall to use his money on Bertuzzi why aren’t we talking about Marchand instead. Five years older and fits perfectly in a one last run for Pittsburgh.

  4. How can the Bruins open up Salary Cap space is a fairly simply exercise in idea, however in practice, it’s probably going to be next to impossible

Why? Because the Bruins are currently here from an organization standpoint:

    -NHL’s worst draft capital:

No 1st again until 2025. No 2nd again until 2026

    -NHL’s wort Salary Cap Position:

Only $5M in Cap Space which won’t even be enough to re-sign Swayman & Frederic (let alone anyone else), they have no 1c or 2c signed (or in their crap Farm System) and they only have 7 forwards signed for the 2023-24 season

-One of the NHL’s Worst Farm Systems:

Universally ranked 28th-32nd and dead last in the NHL. Few prospects that have any value beyond Lysell and Lohrei

-Inability to sweeten trades due to no Draft Capital, No Cap Space & a Crap Prospect Pool

What players won’t the Bruins move:

    Marchand, Pasta & Lindholm:

All three have Full NTCs. Should they move maybe Marchand? 100% yes, but it’s not happening so…. Swayman isn’t getting traded either and I'm not sure they would trade or even find a market for Lindholm

What players won’t give them much of anything in return:

Greer, Zbroil, Grzlyck, Reilly and Forbort

Sure, you could try to trade these guys for Cap Space but what GM is going to gift the Bruins Cap space to take on these over paid and or underperforming guys? They’ve been trying to give Reilly away for a year now with no takers. Zboril & Greer are spare parts

Griz is soft as Swiss cheese, over paid and only has a year left on his deal. Forbort is overpaid by about $1.5M and outside of killing penalties and blocking shots, he's not very good at playing defense

What about Pavel Zacha and Charlie Coyle?

The Bruins don’t have a 1c or 2c signed today. They also don’t have a future 1c or 2c anywhere ready to compete at the NHL level in their putrid Farm System. They lack the Cap Space to sign a 1c or 2c. They lack the assets to trade for a 1c or a 2c. Thus don’t expect Zacha or Coyle to be moved

So that leaves this group of players:

    Hall Ullmark Debrusk & Carlo

Debrusk: Only has a year left on his deal and he’s been very up and down. Unless they are 100% committed to re-signing him next off-season, he should be on the trading block

Carlo: The Bruins don’t have a Top 4 RHD anywhere in their putrid Farm System. They don’ have the Cap Space to sign a Top 4 RHD either. They also lack the assets to trade for a Top 4 RHD. So it’s fairly doubtful that Carlo gets moved this off-season

Hall: Probably the Bruins best forward in the playoffs this past year. Could still probably return decent value but two more years at $6M+ with almost the entire league being in Cap Jail…. The Bruins are probably going to have to either take back or retain salary or add something to the deal to get “real” value for Hall

Ullmark: The Bruins literally only have one position in their entire organization they have depth at, Goalie. Beyond Swayman they have Bussi, Svedeback, Keyser, Dyck and Dipietro

Ullmark also has had two terrible playoff runs with Boston while also battling injuries (something he’s battled his entire career). The league also is kind of goal tending starved

Only a $5M AAV and only two years left on his deal. So Ullmark is cheap, doesn't have a lot of term and he just completed a Vezina winning regular season. Although goalies don’t tend to get traded for high draft picks or high end prospects, Ullmark is likely to return the best value of any player the Bruins may trade

That is unless they are willing to start dealing Marchand, Pastrnak, McAvoy or Swayman. “Yes”, on trading Marchand for me but no on the three others. You can build around Pasta, McAvoy and Swayman

Marchand is 35, is coming off of two busted hips, his playoff performances in recent years have been less than stellar and his injuries have increased in frequency and severity these past few years. However, Marchand is still an elite player in the NHL that has value to the league's other GM's, especially those trying to add a final piece or two to their own Cup runs

The Bruins desperately need draft capital and young prospects. Marchand could return those two things, in addition to much needed Cap Space

Seattle has draft capital, salary cap space and is ready to contend. Hall, Debrusk and Grzelyck would all make sense as trade pieces to Seattle

But again, forget about any of that Bruins homers

Marchand isn’t going anywhere as Don Sweeney and Jeremy Jacobs would rather lose in the 1st round for another 10 years straight

Then miss the playoffs for a year or two while they build a new core that could compete for Stanley Cup again for another decade, so….

  5. Trade Ulmark for a top 15 first round pick and possibly a 2nd round pick in this years draft. Trade Hall for a 2nd round pick in this years draft. Trade Carlo for a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick. That gives us over 22 milion of cap space to sign Orlov, Bertuzzi, Swayman and Hathaway, bring up Providence Goalie Brandon Bussi. DO NOT bring back Freddy…

  6. They won't be able o sign Bertuzzi because they put all their eggs in one basket and Florida crushed the basket.
