Ekholm is a fine dman, but I don't think this trade will make much of a difference. Lmao. Their blue line is in shambles. One addition ain't gunna cut it.

Nothing against Ekholm but Oilers should have traded Nurse for three good defensemen making $4 million each and kept Tyson. This trade along with getting Campbell has set the Oilers back at least three years. If Kane last year hadn't fallen into Hollands lap or Kostin this year the Oilers would still be a 24 place them. Hoilland like Nurse should start earning his pay. It seems the more the Oilers pay the more useless the person becomes.

Even if Pulijujarvi blossoms in Carolina, it will still help Edmonton because he wouldn't have blossomed EVER as an Oiler. Edmonton got cap space and a prospect who might end up helping them more than Pulijujarvi ever did making that trade a success – even if Pulijujarvi eclipses Austen Matthews.
That trade was the beginning of the end for the oilers. They should have waited another year to see if there are options than Ekholm. It was just a hasty decision to really bad conditions for the oilers. I mean, do they really think to win the cup this year. In the meantime, the forwards should learn how to play defense.

Edmonton are idiots. First of McDavid and Draisaitl are entering their PRIME and all their doing is slapping a bandaid on 1 of 10 problems they have. Why go for Ekholm when they could of went for Chychrun, maybe 2019-2020 Ekholm nor signing Nurse to 9.5 m or even signing garbage Jack Campbell to 5m. Add some size to that Defensive core and not just give McDavid help however Nugent Hopkins and get someone like Buchnevich on a team that’s rebuilding. If I were the oilers I would of trade for Chychrun and Buchnevich.
