Brandon Piller and Ross Levitan react to the news that Steve Apostolopoulos has removed himself from the bidding process for the Ottawa Senators. He was believed to have the highest dollar bid but no longer wants to be in the mix. Steve Warne reports that DeBrincat “would like to stay, and like the team and coach a lot”. That’s very different than what we have been hearing lately. And we continue our NHL Draft Prospect Profiles with players ranked 15th, 16th and 17th. Don't know if there truth to this but heard that the big reason for the Steve A to back out is that they wanted a 1 year out clause in case the real estate portion of things fall through

I dunno if this is the worst thing though. I've felt like deepest pockets aside, the Andlauer and Kimmel bids seem like the ones who would know how to run a successful team. I'm hopeful with GSP losing their highest bid, they'll finally realize it's time to get this thing done.

I live over here in South East Asia now and I look at what is going on in Canada and it's embarrassing. We get bridges, stadiums, roads, high speed rail over here finished in months and a maybe a couple of years at the most. Canada is buried in legal hurdles, taxes and regulations from many levels of governments. Even this sale is clearly bogged down in red tape and greed.
At this rate, the team is gonna be awarded to whoever just happens to be left in the bids.
To me between Reynolds and his group and Apostolopoulos if you're really committed hang in. Bettman and GSP (maybe the board) has screwed this up royal. It makes me think that like the NFL and MLB they wanted to keep this in the family. Andlauer and the Kimels, it was rigged for the one of them. Sparks has gotten too messy. It was a good mission but too messy. DeBrincat feels conflicted. He wants to cash in but he's not sure if DJ's system is the best for his skills. I get it.
Building a new arena and the permits involved in Ottawa is a tropical jungle full of venomous animals. I bet that’s why it’s taking so long. If I have roadblocks to a new stadium why buy the team?
Here is my conspiracy theory on ownership: As we all know, Gary Bettman wants all teams to be American. But the Melnycks want to keep the team in Ottawa. Solution? Run the team into the ground hoping fans won't care if the team is moved to the USA to a 5000 seat arena.
