Until they get a number 1 goalie, better depth and hopefully their young defenseman develope properly, I dont see this team competing for a cup for a very long time. I can see them being one hell of a regular season team tho.
Since Gorton and Hughes took over the team, it's been nothing but great moves. In a salary cap era, it's important to keep salaries as low as possible. The Habs aren't looking to cheap out. They send up to the closest to the salary cap that they can. The more money they save on players like Suzuki and Caufield, the more they can spend on other great players to help them.
The Habs are building the type of team that I like. Talented guys with good attitudes. I'd rather cheer for guys I like than guys I hate. Caulfield just proved he's here to win and not just get a pay check. I look forward to see the team mature. Everything points to them building a successful team and I can't wait for the draft to see what the team will look like at training camp!
Kent is a master negotiator! Caufield has so much class taking under Suzuki! What a statement for the culture of this franchise. All the top dogs of the future are seemingly playing for the CH in the front instead of the name on the back!!!
