According to Sheng Peng, sharks are learning towards taking Will smith at 4th, with the picks ordered at bedard, fantili, and Carlsson. That leaves likely Michkov available for MTL. Thoughts?

I will explode if we get Leo Carlsson
that the most habs way to pass on michkov to regret it in 3 years
I will nut so hard if we somehow get Michkov
I think Leonard or Reinbacher is good enough for me at this point.
Of course. How fucking unlucky can we get in one season?
We always knew this would happen
I know nothing but I’m 99% sure it’s gonna be Leonard.
That being said, if Montreal can do a zoom meeting or something with Michkov (is that allowed?) and he says he wants to be in the NHL as soon as he can, maybe they take the chance? There’s just no way they take him w out talking to him first
At this point I feel like management should try to trade for the CBJ pick. Give them our 5th, 31-32rd, and whoever they want not named Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slaf, Guhle, Hutson. They are so adamant on competing next year, maybe that would interest them. Caarlson is the perfect fit for this team.
In his [article](https://sanjosehockeynow.com/san-jose-sharks-will-smith-2023-nhl-draft/), he also says the habs are leaning Reinbacher or Leonard
Leonard, it is.
I don’t care about who we get (although I prefer Michkov I’ve warmed up to Benson & Leonard)…I just don’t want us to trade down
Very interested in why Michkov seems set to drop out of the top 5. Despite what people on this site say GMs aren’t blind to his talent.
I imagine nobody wants to accept the added risks when they feel they have other picks that are close in talent, may have higher floors, and are able to be firmly analyzed in person?
I’ve also wondered about the horrible optics of drafting a Russian player, especially one from SKA of all teams. This may be controversial but I’m personally very opposed to it on moral grounds and I’m sure there are GMs who feel the same way. However, at the same time morally questionable picks are made constantly.
Leonard + trade up the Florida pick for Dvorsky
He has no idea
If we pick Leonard/Reinbacher, I really hope we somehow get another top 10 pick to draft someone with an upside.
Look I don’t hate Leonard matter of fact I love the pick.
But the fact that we are gonna take him over Michkov fucking hurts
HuGo are gonna pull a Bergevin and draft Reinbacker, I just have that feeling. Fml
If that’s the case, Habs are def grabbing Leonard.
I hope we go Ryan Leonard if Carlsson and Smith are off the table. He’s literally good at everything.
Makes sense since Carlsson will be gone.
Their Reddit Board is all Michkov.
Benson is much better anyway
Just makes me believe Mtl will draft Reinbacher. Maybe Leonard. Hoping for Smith or Carlsson to slip but there’s zero chance the team takes Michkov
Stats doesn’t mean everything, but it still has a certain value. Looking at Leonard stats, I find it quite ordinary, not worthy at 5th overall.
Leonard: 17 games, 11g, 9a, 18 pts. 1.06ppg
Will Smith: 20 games, 15g, 27a, 42 pts. 2.1ppg
Perreault: 23 games, 19g, 26a, 45 pts. 1.96ppg
Smith has almost double ppg than Leonard. 100% more !! If not Michkov, then I prefer Benson over Leonard.
Wouldn’t bother me to see either Michkov or Benson go in that spot🤷🏻♂️
It will be Mitchkov or Dvorsky…you have been told
Leonard > Mitchkov
Playoffs > Regular season
Alright I’m not expecting the Habs to take Michkov either but can we all chill out a bit and maybe not completely write off the chance that we take him yet?? Like I’m not asking for blind optimism but like way too many people are completely certain we aren’t taking Michkov and I don’t think that’s the right way to think about this either.
We’re about to fuck this one up again aren’t we
