No matter what you think of him (hate playing against the guy)

He would be the piece we need to get tougher and still have some skill. He’s not just some tough 4th line guy, he can score and make you pay.

He’s exactly what we need. I want the Canes to be the “bad guys” for once. Let’s do a heel turn like in pro wrestling lol

  3. JonTheWizard

Can he keep pace, though, and is he at risk of declining?

  4. Proof-Bid-8621

Nah….He ain’t what he used to be. More of a liability.

one time my friend fought Tom Wilson in the OHL… He lost

We absolutely could use him. Was already hoping we’d try for him at the deadline.

    No.

Fans love to say “You’d love him if he was on your team” for players like Wilson, Marchand, or Trouba; but having players on your team that play to injure is a stain on the team.

    So:

    #1 Dirty player

#2 The push to get a team more physical or gritty is a tale as old as time- its usually brought up when people attempt to identify the “missing critical factor.” Adding grit or physicality has to have a real point to it, and I don’t see how the Hurricanes are seriously lacking in team toughness or ability to grind, hit, or win battles.

#3 If we are looking to capitalize on tough skill, I still don’t see how he fits with the way the Canes play, and his skill level is not enough to compensate for the above two points either.

I feel like he would be perfect for the Canes style for sure

I would be shocked if the caps trade him. If they did they would be essentially saying they aren’t trying to win a cup again while ovi is on the team. Definitely don’t see the caps winning with Wilson, but trading him slams that door shut

I hate Tom Wilson in a Caps jersey but if he was wearing a Canes logo I might appreciate his game. He’s what we are missing.

I hate HATE the capitals and this turd is a big part of why. Ive watched him give a guy a concussion and laugh at him when he couldn’t stand up. That’s not the type of person I want to see on a team I root for.

From a less personal, more profession stance, I think he’s too slow for the hurricanes. I don’t think he’s worth 5.1mil hit. And if you think you could get the caps to retain; why do you think that they are trying to trade him? Also who on the Canes top six goes to open up a spot for this guy in the line up?

Tom is washed, unfortunately. 5.1 is way too much for him I think. He also can’t play in a bottom 6 role. Canes should be calling Vancouver about Garland since he’s on the block now.

The only thing I’m worried about is his health. How often can he be on the ice?
