  1. Still, Slav need one or two years in the AHL in my opinion. The guy need to learn how to protect himself. And like KK, he seems pretty fragile on his skates.

  2. This kid literally returned to his hometown recently to GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL. What is it you’re expecting from a teenager?

And check Shane Wright’s performance. Not too impressive.

  3. Slafkovsky report card 2022:
18 years old in the NHL.

    Physicality : B-
    Hands : B
    Skating : C+
    Shooting : B-
    Playmaking : B
    Personality : A-
    Maturity : C

He has alot of room to improve, for his size he was underwhelming physically, but can move well at the same time, I believe he can adjust that.

He has deceivingly good set of hands for a guy of his stature but he can do better.

Skating can improve or at least power wise.

He has a few shots in his tool box, but needs to use them, he has some accuracy to it.

I enjoyed his playmaking, he can win battles and protect the puck. That should open up ice for other players.

I love his personality and attitude, he is confident but far from cocky somehow he balances this out properly. What I love is that he doesn't have the 1st OA ego to him, he can go far with this attitude. I felt like he needs to mature a bit, he is not NHL ready mentally the stage feels a bit too big for him.

He has alot of room to grow, feels like he barely even scratched the surface to his true potential, next season will be key. As long as he keeps adding and polishing his skills.. he can become real headache to defend. I see him becoming an key player with a support role, top 6, dangerous hands, rebound scorer, space maker.

His ceiling is 75-85pts/season with an important role and a strong presence on the ice.

  4. Oh gawd. He's going to be fine. Big body, European player, 18! On a team that was decimated with injuries. I see him as a 60-70 pt ceiling winger who will be a monster to play against, with the outside chance for more.

  5. 18 year old first time playing on american size ice no worries there lol.And nobody from that draft did something yet from slaf to the last pick lol

  6. His game is being a power forward. So as an 18 year old, he needs his man body before he can really utilize his game at the NHL level. That's my opinion at least. It's pretty early to say his peak is Jordan Staal. He may end up being like a Jamie Benn in a couple years, just give him some time.

  7. I have faith he'll develop into a great first liner but it will be challenging for the habs to find the right development path for the kid with his anomalous size/skill mix. Also nobody in that draft class is exactly torching the league.

  8. They should have drafted Logan Cooley. Him and Caufield would have been great imo.

  9. You are wondering who Juraj is or who he will be, but I know who you are – an absolute dweeeb hahaha, I believe Lafrenière, Power are superstars in the league right now yeh??

  10. I still see that he has the potential to be a power forward like Blake Wheeler, Chris Kreider or Tom Wilson. I would be surprised if he turns out to be a worse player than Josh Anderson.

  11. Slav reminded me of Joe Thorntons rookie season (yes I know completely different players and play styles) a player who dominated at lower levels with size being a huge factor in play style , now comes the adjustment period , the talent is clearly their now with proper coaching he will adjust his style . I have faith in the coaches to get him to play up to his potential . I figure he will be a 60-80 point 2nd line winger at his ceiling .

  12. He will be fine he still so young. Hes a big strong dude that just needs to adjust to the NHL.

  13. Should have gone down to the minors and away from the spotlight and get top minutes. Wasted year of development. If he had success then they could have brought him up late season. It was obvious he was put in a no win situation on a team that was still in rebuild mode and trying to trade players which they needed to showcase. That failed as well. Really bad management of assets.

  14. He’s a big body and it normally takes a while for big body young guys to find their touch. Y’all need to relax and let the kid develop.

  15. Juraj, in his time on Ice before he got hurt… still did more than Wright did in his whole NHL and AHL combined time this year and wright still playing now in AHL Finals.

  16. I saw him play on worlds and olympics and he was clearly league above Beniers and bunch of seasoned nhlers who also played there. Dude's just 19 and played just a couple minutes each game and with bottom six guys. Still was clearly the best from that draft class.

  17. I like the Staal comparison . I think he could be more like a 30g 70pt Eric Staal winger though hopefully

  18. I hope I'm wrong, but I think it could none less than Joel Armia 2.0 . A big guy who have everything to be successful . He played in Finland, he's good on internationnal scene, but we see him 1 game on 6-7 . I repeat, I hope I'm wrong .

  19. He reminds me of Jesse Puljujärvi. Similar size, hype and skillset but just doesn't seem to translate to the North American game.

  20. Did Jack Hughes shown some 1st overall performance in his rookie year in the nhl? How about Lafreniere with the rangers? Bro YOU GOT FRK CHILL OUT he’s 19 frk baby behind his ears. I’m not even bothered if I doesn’t break out until he’s 25. I got two words for: Tage Thompson (drop the mic)

  21. He's a rookie who barely played. Why do people keep trying to categorize him so early ? He could take 2-3 years before we see any results.

  22. Kent Hughes last year: "We're drafting the player we believe will be the best in the future. He's a long term project."
Hockey fans after 30 games: "IS SLAFKOVSKY A BUST?" I hate sports fans, lmao.

  23. listen he’s good yes but i don’t think he will be a first line goal scorer for Montreal or any team ever. I think he’ll be a good 2nd or 3rd liner for the rest of his career.

  24. Slaf is very solid in my eyes, I think he’s a great pick and the future looks very bright for him in Montréal

  25. He's okay, not a bust but not a top player neither. He's gonna be a good second-third line winger. Montreal gonna need depth at some point anyways so he has his place in the team.

  26. He was 18 and was the only one on the roster producing any offensive opportunities for a few games. I think he did just fine as a rookie. I don't think anyone expects him to be a point per game player in such a weak draft class and that's fine. Anyone who calls him a bust or worse than Shane Wright has clearly never watched him play. This really isn't a video that even needed to be made yet considering his age and inexperience. We'll see where he's at after this year but even then I think he's the type of guy who will have random breakouts during his prime

  27. First things first not all drafts are equal he could be the best of a very average draft class .time will tell

  28. I think he should've been in Laval but really wanted to play in the NHL… and last year, the habs were able to afford to let him play in the NHL. For the future, only time will tell.

  29. Ah yes the hockey fan’s classic “I don’t see him being the best player of his draft because he struggled at 18 years old in the best hockey league in the world against elite 6‘4 shutdown defensemen in his first season on North American ice while playing 9 minutes a night with AHL line mates, while the other players are getting a bunch of points playing against kids and teenagers in amateur leagues” Complete failure to acknowledge context

Remember what Kent Hughes said : “we’re gonna draft the player who we feel will be the best in 5 years, not the player who will be the best next year So Hughes is basically is telling to not judge based on his first year

You just cannot predict how a whole career will be based on 39 GAMES. I like your videos, but clearly this one was made to get views because there is not much to talk about.

  30. It just seems that Montreal and 1st overall is not a match made in heaven….at least not since they had full control over all quebec born players…. of course we couldn't get the 1st overall on a year where there is a no brainer first overall like this year

  31. I see him being a 2nd line forward. Definitely not worth a 1st overall pick, Would've went Wright Nemec and Cooley before him.

  32. Such a dumb video. He's 19 and had one shortened season due to injury. Seems like someone was absolutely reaching to find some content.

  33. Most of the draft class didn't play in the nhl and wright went back to jr's. But yeah not sure he should be in the nhl and play in the AHL for at least a year.
