VGK made many significant, aggressive moves to build their team beyond the expansion draft. Trading for Eichel, Stone, moving out Fleury, signing Pietrangelo….These are HUGE moves that have paid off. Yes, they made the rest of the league look foolish during the expansion draft but that's on the rest of the league's GMs.
I wish the Leafs could do that throughout the rest of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It's bullcrap how Vegas is raising the bar while the Leafs aren't. It's bs!
VGK made it to the SCF in 2018 and that was deemed a failure by their management, dictating the need for big changes every year since. Meanwhile the Leafs exited in round 1 in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and round two in 2023. THAT IS THE CULTURE OF LOSING!
VGK didn't raise the bar, they raised the salary cap!

As a lifelong Habs fan, I can state with authority that we haven't even had a bar since the 70's. Just saying.

Raised what bar? Last years champ would've demolished Vegas. Vegas is an awesome champ, very deep but dont act like they are something we havent seen. They are just a champ
They have kind of shown what a ruthless from office can do for a team. They have managed the team in a way that just leads to wins. I’m fearful more teams will adopt this strategy. I dislike Vegas management alone. I like the players.
