I'd love it for the Habs but not convinced the Caps are going to go full salvage mode simply because Ovi is getting older. Their front office has to be aware this team's window has closed so not sure they're going to trade a 1st rounder to get rid of a guy who only has a year left on his deal.

I don't think Montreal will trade for Mantha unless they get a good draft pick in return like for Sean Monahan. Detroit and Washington gave up on him for the same reason: lack of constancy in his game…!!!
Look, if BMac sends Mantha AND a first to ANY team for the sole purpose of a cap dump and nothing comes back in return, he loses his job. They've already given up a first to GET Mantha, using a first to send him out will cost him his job. Not only that, if it's this year's first, you can bet your ass something WILL be coming back Washington's way because it's 8th overall in a stacked draft. You really cant compare the situation in Calgary to whats going on in Washington.
Anderson + Flames 1st round pick (from the monahan trade) + our 2nd round pick in 2023… for Mantha and their 1st round pick this year (8th) 🤔 Washington gets cap space plus Anderson to help OV win.. and they still secure their future with the 2 picks. i would like the caps to give the new coach a chance with Mantha, he has been seeing a sports psychologist and maybe he can dive in and produce, he shows flashes but then disappears . last year he was amazing in the playoffs vs florida for the first two games ,,,,then absolutely nothing after that?? i would take Vrana back in a heartbeat but he has mental issues as well, although i think with St. Louis he will snap out of his issue.

Mantha st'un gros gars…il n'a pas tellement la vitesse. Il peut jouer un rôle important dans le top 9 d'une équipe compétitive en plus d'amener de la physicalité (ce qui tue les jambes de ton adversaire -> de l'arrêter avec une mise en échec en utilisant son corps comme frein). Il peut jouer sur le PP parce qu'il a un bon tir et peut faire un excellent "screen" dû à son gabarit. Son temps de glace pourrait grimper à 15 – 16 minutes dans une équipe ayant l'intention de faire les séries ou bien 17 – 18 dans une équipe qui ouin… n'est pas très bonne.
Caps not trading that pick. That’s literally the most valuable player/assets in their entire organization so why would they trade for another overpaid 3rd line winger for the next 4 years and essentially a glorified 2nd round pick. Mantha literally only has 1 year left they are so much better off waiting it out then trading for Anderson which is a move that doesn’t really make you better.

There is a lot of dumb here. Mantha can walk for nothing at the end of the season. You don't give a top ten pick for a guy on a one year deal.
